Update!!

Mewtiny was being held by a woman with a husband and 2 young kids near her. I kind of just pointed and said to BF "That's her." And the lady was like "We want her!" And then a staff person happened to come in right then, and said "Oh, is that Mewtiny? Yeah, she's been adopted." Aww.....
Well, that saved a potential fight anyway..
But go figure, she's been there over a month, and then today there's 3 people who wanted her!

So. No sweet, friendly, Genever-like, tiny Mewtiny.

BUT.... We checked out everyone else there, and after a bunch of pets and talking to staff, we decided to adopt an orange girl named Sara Sue, who's been there since May 2010! I asked why she was there so long, and they just don't know. She is a sweetie, and they said she gets along with other cats, even though 2 spots on her note page said she didn't. But they reassured me that was when she was first moved from a cage to the cat colony. And I like to think they really don't want people to return pets, so they wouldn't lie about stuff.

So we adopted her! We are going to pick her up tomorrow morning. So I can still keep my Monday vet appointment. We are so excited!
I think we're going to change her name though, Sara Sue just doesn't sound right for some reason. Good thing I did buy a litterbox today when I went to Petco for food. After the shelter, we went to PetSmart and stocked up on litter and got a Drinkwell.

So that's my update. Kind of an "Aww, man. But Yay!"

Thank you! Yes, I think everything happens for a reason. And that's also why I was trying not to get too excited about the little one, in case someone else fell in love with her before we got back today. I am happy she got a home though! And I got to give another kitty a home!
Since we're picking her up tomorrow, BF and I are going to go out and celebrate, since we should probably stay home this weekend..

Well her SPCA/Petfinder page makes her look a bit odd.. well I guess I would say she does have a different shaped head, which is fine, but she looks prettier in person. In this pic she just looks annoyed. And maybe she was, having some shelter person sticking a camera in her face.
I will post pics of her at home when I can.

Also, I forgot to mention earlier, Sara Sue (to be renamed) is 5 years old. So that may be a big reason why she hadn't been adopted. You know, everyone wants kittens... Me and BF, we'd rather sleep at night.

Not really. I know it is still said that ginger females are rare, but I really don't think they are. I know many Red Girls.

She's home!!

I think I will start a new thread about it.

I used to thik red girls were rare, but I've seen a few on here, and the SPCA actually had 3 on Thursday when I went. So... who knows.

One of my feral fosters, Siren, is a ginger female.
I've actually had a few who were. One of foster Macy's kittens was a ginger female and my Nan's Annie is as well. They ARE more commonly male however.

I have a red female, Goldy. The reason males are more common is that it's a sex-linked color. I read somewhere that the ratio is about 75% male to 24% female.

Beautiful baby. Can't wait to see pictures of her in her new home.
