I think I found her!

I stopped at the SPCA on my way back from an inspection, and I fell in love! A tiny girl, about 1 year old, brought in as a stray but SUPER friendly. Very pretty too, a torbie. I don't even want to post her Petfinder link, because that pic makes her look weird. Her name is Mewtiny, whatever that means. That name would have to go. Like Genever's shelter name Miss Boo Bear had to go.

I called BF on his lunch break to tell him I think we have to get this cat if she's still there on Saturday. He said he will try to get off work at 2 tomorrow to go see/adopt her. She needs to be spayed still, so we wouldn't get to pick her up until Monday probably, but I am getting excited! She was so friendly like Genever was the first time I met her. I even set up a tentative wellness exam at our vet for Monday afternoon. Now, I know, someone may find her this afternoon and fall in love and take her. I would be disappointed, but not too upset, because there are others who need homes too. I hope this works out though!! I will update either way.

Thanks everyone for the vibes. BF must be as excited as I am, because he's leaving work at 2 today. His office has shorter work days on Fridays, but he rarely leaves before 3 or 4 or sometimes 5. But he said he will be home as soon as he can so we can go to the shelter.

I was going to go buy a litterbox and all that stuff this morning, but then I thought I actually have all weekend really, since she would be spayed before we can bring her home. I still might go soon, because I have to buy cat food anyway.

Keep those fingers crossed for us!!

Update!!

Mewtiny was being held by a woman with a husband and 2 young kids near her. I kind of just pointed and said to BF "That's her." And the lady was like "We want her!" And then a staff person happened to come in right then, and said "Oh, is that Mewtiny? Yeah, she's been adopted." Aww..... Well, that saved a potential fight anyway.. But go figure, she's been there over a month, and then today there's 3 people who wanted her!

So. No sweet, friendly, Genever-like, tiny Mewtiny.

BUT.... We checked out everyone else there, and after a bunch of pets and talking to staff, we decided to adopt an orange girl named Sara Sue, who's been there since May 2010! I asked why she was there so long, and they just don't know. She is a sweetie, and they said she gets along with other cats, even though 2 spots on her note page said she didn't. But they reassured me that was when she was first moved from a cage to the cat colony. And I like to think they really don't want people to return pets, so they wouldn't lie about stuff.

So we adopted her! We are going to pick her up tomorrow morning. So I can still keep my Monday vet appointment. We are so excited! I think we're going to change her name though, Sara Sue just doesn't sound right for some reason. Good thing I did buy a litterbox today when I went to Petco for food. After the shelter, we went to PetSmart and stocked up on litter and got a Drinkwell.

So that's my update. Kind of an "Aww, man. But Yay!"

Awwwwwwww sounds like this little girl needed you even MORE badly..poor thing being there so long without being adopted!! She is going to be so grateful to you...and you get kitty home even SOONER than you thought. Must have been meant to work out that way, congrats!!!

Thank you! Yes, I think everything happens for a reason. And that's also why I was trying not to get too excited about the little one, in case someone else fell in love with her before we got back today. I am happy she got a home though! And I got to give another kitty a home! Since we're picking her up tomorrow, BF and I are going to go out and celebrate, since we should probably stay home this weekend..

How exciting for you and your BF!! Do you have a picture of her yet?

Well her SPCA/Petfinder page makes her look a bit odd.. well I guess I would say she does have a different shaped head, which is fine, but she looks prettier in person. In this pic she just looks annoyed. And maybe she was, having some shelter person sticking a camera in her face. I will post pics of her at home when I can.

Also, I forgot to mention earlier, Sara Sue (to be renamed) is 5 years old. So that may be a big reason why she hadn't been adopted. You know, everyone wants kittens... Me and BF, we'd rather sleep at night.
