Thinking about adding a new kitty

I have always started out with kittens that were 8 to 10 weeks old
but this time I am thinking about getting a kitty that's 2 to 3 months old
just wondering if that's still a good age to start off on ?
would love everyone's outlook on the matter

thank you

I think it depends on your preference. Me, I don't think i would ever want a kitten. Too much cuteness, yes, I like that, but too much energy as well! A 3 month old will still be super playful and bouncing off the walls.

That said, I am hoping to be able to adopt a 1 year old this weekend... and I'm just hoping she's not too kitten-like. But if she is, I would still love her. And it will be fun for our 3 year old cat who is still very playful, but doesn't (usually) keep us up all night.

Whichever you choose, have fun!! And post pics!

8-10 weeks and 2-3 months are about the same age. Kittens are a handful but they are fun!

I got mine at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 3 weeks. 3 weeks was harder because Midnight was so tiny he couldn't leave my room. He'd get hurt. He couldn't play with Luna she was way to big and rough for him. So he had to stay seperated from the others for a long time, especially since he didn't seem to grow at all until he turned 8weeks old.

It also depends on how active a kitten you want. The younger 1's are more active, than the 1's closer to adulthood. They have more energy.

So 2 to 3 months old is still considered a kitten right ?

I think cats up to 1 year old or so are still kittens really. They're still growing until at least a year old, usually.

That's the same age.

Kittens should be with their Mom until they are 12 weeks old.

2-3 months is still very much a kitten! We got Tumbles when he was about 10 weeks or so and it's been go, go, go ever since!

That's still young. Only difference is they'd be more secure (as in past weaning, hopefully over worms, fleas, etc. that most kittens start out with) and not so tiny you have to worry about them getting hurt as often. But still full of energy!!
My "first born" didn't really calm down until she turned three...and she's still pretty feisty at times

Whatever you adopt, post pictures please!

Of course 3 months is still a kitten. Cats are mammals, not insects

8-12 weeks IS 2-3 months, LOL. . .

Yes, kittens are kittens for a long time. Up to a year, depending on the kitty, but almost definitely up to 8 months.

It's best for kittens to remain with their mothers and littermates for 10-12 weeks. That way they learn all their kitty lessons before you bring them home, and it makes life with them much easier.
