Really extreme ringworm

My 8 year old black female cat contracted ringworm about 8 months ago. Even though she was treated with Grisosuven (spelling?) for over 2 months she grew steadily worse. Very pitiful at this point, the fungus is even in one eye. She has lost the use of one leg due to scar tissue. The vet has informed me that the stronger anti-fungal medications would almost certainly be lethal in her case. So at this point, I have no idea what avenue to pursue.

The cat does not seem to be in pain, eats well and has normal bowel movements. But, she stays asleep most of the time these days.

I feel she is dying, maybe. She has lost weight and continues to lose hair. If anyone has successfully dealt with highly resistant ringworm, I'd very much appreciate hearing your experience. Thanks.

Very sorry to hear you are dealing with this! Have you tried topical treatment, such as lime sulfur baths? I can't believe that ringworm wouldn't respond to it. Another option is Imaverol baths, unless your cat has liver problems. Is that why your vet said that a stronger treatment would be deadly? Itraconazole used orally is efficient in treating ringworm infections that don't respond to griseofulvin treatment but it is quite hard on the liver.

I would not recommend this normally, as I have not used it myself. However, there are a few vet products online that have a money-back guarantee on treating ringworm. I was reading last week about a woman who used it on her 8 cats who were all infected with ringworm for over 2 months and vet treatments had not worked. She used the stuff 1 time and noticed remarkable differences. In 2 days, it was GONE. In your case, it really may be worth a try...especially since all other methods have failed.

2 choices of similar stuff:

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm also going through a bad case of ringworm with my two kittens, and it spread to my husband and I. One thing that has really helped us is shampoo the vet gave us to use everyday. virbac dermazole I think is what it's called, I don't have it in front of me right now. Anyways, it's been 2 weeks, the kittens are almost cleared up, and ours are disappearing too. We also starting using tea tree oil. IT IS AMAZING. We also put it on our cats. They actually don't lick it off and they don't mind us putting it on them! The hardest part is bathing them everyday, but I noticed and extreme improvement with the 100% Pure tea tree oil. I got mine at a local pharmacy.

However I should note maybe if your cats ringworm is a lot more severe just test it on a smaller area I guesss to see how the cat reacts.
