So about a week ago, I heard my fixed female cat meowing at something
outside. I knew by the meow something was up. She had a smaller cat
cornered and was I guess growling at it. So I jumped in grabbed my cat
& the little cat ran off when I did this.
Just a few minutes ago, my cat was making that strange meow again at the
back door. I saw a cat in our yard. So I let the cat out thinking she would
have a playmate for awhile, and she immediately got aggressive right in this
cats face, and then chased it out the yard. Even went crazy digging a hole
in the snow so she could go under the fence & follow the cat away.
Is this just a territory thing. I'd rather she made friends then enemies. Are
these other cats female also. Would she get along better with a male even
if fixed. I only have 1 cat, and she doesn't have alot of experience with other cats. She was bread in the wild though, so she has good instincts.

Cats aren't the neighborly type. They are the get-the-heck-off-MY-territory-or-I'll-bite-you type. 99% of all cats would chase a strange cat off their territory.
