Sorry to be whining to you all again, but I've tried to get my dh, friends, etc, but no one is around to listen!

I had some labs drawn on Monday as I have an appt with my neurologist next week. It will be the first time she's seen me since chemo. I had the results faxed to me as usual as I always hand carry a copy.

UGH!!! The results STINK!!!!

All the beautiful lab values I had at the end of November are no more. I'm anemic and almost neutropenic (meaning low immune system function) again! I am mildly freaking out, and already emailed the oncologist, who had discharged me at the end of November. I am hoping he can/will advise me as I really don't want to leave this stuff to my primary care doc or the neuro.

I can't believe this as I feel so GOOD. But, I guess this explains the fainting episode last week and the fact that my heartrate gets a little high at the gym.

UGH UGH UGH!!! I so wanted this to be behind me.

Thanks for listening to my panicked rant!

Cally

Oh, no!!
I really hope they can get on top of this!! Isn't it odd that you feel rather good despite that? I hope that means you have a lot of strength to get things back up to par.

OK, just heard from the oncologist's office. Apparently, all the values at discharge were kind of "artificial" due to the drugs and blood and platelets I received. The PA said a drop is normal, and should be followed by gradual increases over the next few months.

WHEW!! That's a relief! I'm just so used to seeing my labs ALWAYS doing what they are supposed to do, it was quite a shock to see these.

Hmmmmmm, maybe this is still a good excuse not to cook dinner tonight. :p

Wow, that was a rollercoaster of a thread, more for you than for us though, I'm sure. I'm glad you got some info on the results, that it's normal and not as terrible as it looks. Best wishes for more improvement!! And yeah, take it easy and let someone else cook dinner!

Glad to hear that the news wasn't so bad. I agree with the other posters: put your feet up tonight!

Cally, I understand this all too well. My daughter has had chemo. Anyway, you take care of yourself. Pamper yourself and know that we all are pulling for you. Order your favorite and eat in tonight.

Whew! Glad this is "normal" and I'm praying that your numbers continue to improve. What a roller coaster ride!

Wow, I'm glad this happened because it was supposed to! It would have been nice for you to be warned about it. But it's OK, so you're doing fine! Yay!
(Now get those feet up, grab the telephone, and call for take-out!)

Hope you didn't have to make dinner anyway.
I'm so glad you are feeling good! Even in graphs when something is improving, there are always little ups and downs while the trend keeps going up. Keep healing!
