Morgan finally found her voice...

Well Morgan has been oddly silent for 3 years, she would occasionally meow but maybe 4 or 5 times in the 4 years we've had her. We just moved into a new apartment on the weekend and somehow Morgan has discovered she has a voice. This is great but it just happens to be at 5:20am and she goes until about 7:30 am... every morning since we moved in.
The first night she was hot, so we opened the balcony door and windows (in the dead of winter, this is way too cold for my liking but I can wear sweaters), now we've been opening the patio door all night. She's still doing it.

I understand it's an adjustment but does anyone have any suggestions? She just meows from the early morning, my husband and I have been taking turns getting up and sleeping on the couch (in that cold room btw) and that calmed her down one night but she's just keeping us up.

The next step is the vet but I want to know if anyone else has experienced this because I'm getting frustrated, I didn't get any sleep from her before the move because it was too messy for her liking and she would wake me up randomly at night.

Any suggestions?

How old is Morgan? Yes a vet visit to rule out illness is the first thing I would do, as moving causes stress and stress causes illness in cats.

However some feliway plug in diffusers may help her adjust.

I'm not sure, but usually cat's tend to meow a lot once they move somewhere new unless it was where they were born. When we brought our cat into our house, he mewoed the first 3-4 day's for about a hour. But not that much. He stopped doing it after 3 years of having his furry self. But I'd check the vet just to see if it's anything else.

It sounds like she's stressed from the move and crying out for all the familiar things she knew before you moved. When we moved into our new house, Callie was so stressed that she started howling and burrowing under the covers during the night. We confined her to one room with bedding that smelled familiar, a radio on low, litter box, water, a night light, and some crunchies for a couple of nights. That seemed to help her adjust and get used to the sounds. Then, we invested in a Feliway diffuser. That really helped comfort her and calm her down.

I would also take her to the vet to rule out anything health-wise since stress can cause infections and health problems.

The feliway was the first thing I plugged in when I got the keys. We have 2 in this apt compared to the one we had in the last one.
Morgan is just over 4 years old.

She could be acting that way because of the stress of moving, but she also could be sick. Sometimes illnesses happen at the same time something else is going on, and the cats actions get blamed on the stressful situation, when the cat is sick. You should take her to the vet just incase.

We had a much better night last night. I woke up naturally around 5:30 (new habit I guess) and she was scratching at a door, so I stopped that and went back to bed. She didn't wake me up for the rest of the morning.

We've got an appt on Saturday with the vet (don't want to switch vets and when I'm at work is the only time he's open so I'll drive back to our old town on Saturday).

I hope everything goes ok at the vet!
