My neighbor just emailed me with a load of bad news. She took Byrdie, Brillo's first kitten, to the vet today to investigate a mass on her side. From the vet's naked eye, it looks like cancer and they are waiting on a biopsy. She is three years old.

My Sheba, who was Byrdie's aunt, died of lung cancer at three. Apparently, their bloodline, from a cat who came from another state, has had quite a bit of cancer problems.

Ziggy is Byrdie's uncle. I had/have all three kittens who were born of that particular mother and father. Sheba is gone, now Byrdie may be seriously ill.

It's enough to make me worry....

Sigh..

That's very worrying. I guess all you can do is keep a close eye on Brillo now. The earlier any problem is detected, the better the chances of treatment.

I'm so sorry. I hope they find it isn't cancer!

So sorry, it's hard not to think of the worse possible things.
Just realize that it might not be cancer, it isn't confirmed just yet. And if it is, that doesn't mean Brillo will get cancer later on.

Think like this.. "today my cat is healthy, I am doing everything I can." That got me through alot of hard times with pets.

It appears it IS cancer. No specifics on the type, as my neighbor didn't want to pay for pathology. She said it was a huge incision in abdomen. The vet feels he got it all...sigh.

Oh gosh, poor little thing. I hope he got it all. So many sick kitties lately. Too many, way too many.
