My dad went and got a pony that is pregnant for my niece and nephew, who do not listen. And they put that pony in the yard instead of with the other two horses and the pony has already kicked my old dog. Why anyone would put a pony in the yard instead of the horse pasture I don't know but I am worried about my dog and my sister didn't need this she is really irresponsible.

Horses (and ponies) don't like being alone. It would be better for the pony's mental well being to try introducing it to the horses and see if they accept each other. Maybe you can try this argument to convince your father?

Introducing horses is no different than introducing cats - it must be done gradually. In this case, there are two things to make it even more difficult; 1) she is in foal; and 2) she is a pony and most horses loathe ponies and the smaller the pony, the larger the hate. You no more dump a new horse into a pasture with other horses than you toss a new cat into the extablished cats in your home......the end result is the same - fighting and injuries and probably a slipped foal. It may also not be safe to turn her out with geldings or with a bonded mare and gelding as they would likely run her; other mares would also run her but only long enough to establish rank. Best they get to know each other over the fence instead of doing it the rough way

I agree with keeping them seperate but we could do that without making my very old dog more uncomfortable we have 12 acres of land the pony doesn't have to be in the yard. Sorry I just wanted to vent.
