So Trout is in her 7th year

I have always brought her in for a checkup at the vet every year. Complete with vaccines etc...

For some strange feeling, I don't feel like she needs this this year. She would be due for her checkup this month.

Does she really need a checkup and vaccines every single year? She is an indoor cat.

Just checking.

She and Abby are around the same age.

Yes, I would bring her in for the checkup. The vet will listen to her heart, and give her a physical. She is more likely to find a problem that we wouldn't.

A check-up is good, for the reasons mentioned. But you may be able to skip the shots, if your laws allow it. This past year I only got the rabies shot for Genever, not the other ones (i forget what they are right now), because she is indoors and won't come into contact with strange sick cats outside. The vet agreed she wasn't at risk so we didn't have to do it.

By the way, why no pics of Trout? I always wonder.. she is so pretty in your signature.

We only get the rabies vaccinations, but we do always get them their annuals. We want to know about a problem in advance if possible. There are things blood work and a check up can find that we can't - and while there's still time to do something about it. Sometimes if we wait until we can tell there's a problem, it's too late to do anything about it.

IMO it depends. I physically exam my cats often enough I catch whats wrong(a few times before vet did) If your able to do blood work every trip then I strongly advise to do that as the best trained dr cant see some things that will show up.

None of mine get shots except one almost always outside cat and the semi feral(hmm coming up on a one year mark that should be fun. No local laws here far as rabies shots/lic cats.

I find it especially important to watch the urine/fecal output and the food intake that gives me a heads up to vet the cat for more testing

Off topic: rabies is required - it's a state law. Only one of our cats doesn't keep current on rabies, and that's Tuxedo, and it's for health reasons.

I would take her to the vet for the check up. She probably is perfectly healthy. But just incase.
