Re-introducing Two Cats

I am trying to get two cats that had been together since kittens back together again. Patches went through some liver problems and spent a week at the vets. He was then on tube feedings and going back to the vet every week for three weeks. Alice has always hissed at him for two or three days after going to the vets and with the feeding tube and going back to the vets every week I just kept them completely separate. This is the second week trying to get them back together and I have Patches in a medium size dog crate in the same room with Alice. I let him out of the crate this morning and it wasn't too bad until he started running through the apartment like he always has in the past and she went beyond hissing and I think if I hadn't picked up Patches she would've went after him. While he was sick Patches hurt his leg by landing on it wrong. A tendon in his leg is so swollen it showed on the X-ray and he is moving around like a three legged cat right now. The vet said it would take several weeks to heal and there is nothing that can be done to speed it up because he is already on anti-inflammatories. I wonder if his injured leg is what she is reacting to and is slowing down the two of them getting together?

I can't tell you how to reintroduce your cats, because I've never had to. But I just wanted to tell you, I'm sorry Patches is having such a hard time, and I hope he recovers quickly!
