These are a couple of cats at the shelter, currently. The black and white boy is called "Jack Sparrow," although the staff calls him "ToeToes," for reasons that might be obvious. The calico girl is an older cat whose owner passed away and no one in the family was willing to take her in.

Both are real lovers. Jack loves to be held, and he feels like a big cotton ball!

We have another who is currently in the treatment room who looks as though some child was playing with a black magic marker on her face...but it's entirely natural!

Actually, they may have a lot of trouble. Jack is predominantly black, our most commonly euthanized cat color. And the calico girl is an older cat (at least 5 years old), which often has trouble getting adopted.

We sometimes call Luna that. When Midnight is constantly lapping her. We say he can't help it, she's a big fluffy marshmallow

I believe the calico girl's name is "Boo."

I was visiting the shelter this afternoon and heard that two of our long-timers got adopted.

That whole "loved one dies and no one takes in the deceased's pet" thing really really really bothers me. What if it was a child? That is why I am designating guardians to look after any companion animals in my possession should I become incapacitated or pass away. Money will be set aside and can legally- ONLY GO for the pets' care.

That was the story with Sheba and Jojo, too. I adopted Sheba for my brother, and Jojo got adopted, finally, by a couple with two other Himalayans, but two other cats who came in with them were very unsocialized and had to be euthanized.

If you love your cats, try to provide for them after your demise!

I never understand why black cats have a prob getting adopted. They are stunning cats.

And I also don't understand that if a loved one dies or goes into a home, why NO ONE in the family can take the cat. If you love your parent, don't you want to honor them by taking in the companion they have had?

My mom had to be placed into assisted living. There was NEVER any question I would take Little Girl. My mom loved her, and I honored mom by loving her too.

Anyway, I sure hope these guys get adopted.
