Hi, everyone.

I would love to introduce us too.
I am the human mom to five young kitties: May, Janie, Johnie, Ambie and Midnight. (They are all just over and under two years of age.)
We live in a spacious landscape type house with a nice yard.
I am glad we found this wonderful site where I can browse for useful information about almost everything to do with kitties.

In here there is no such thing (unfortunately) as inside only cats (style of life just does not allow this). But we have a two meter wall around our yard, though, except for Midnight (she is very small) other four easily jump over.
They often go to the neighbors' yards and girls come when I call them, but Johnie loves to wonder away for as long as 12 to 24 hours on seldom occasions (I worry to bits when this happens).

All my kitties are spayed and neutered, regularly vaccinated and treated for worms, ticks and fleas. They are all rescued and raised on raw diet.
Three of them are hunters and they control the mice population in the hood.
I am not too happy about them eating rats and mice, but that's what they do whether I like it or not.
I have introduced them all to my neighbors and they are all happy for them to come around to their yards.

I was not intending to have five cats, we adopted May at first to be our only cat, but other four needed to be rescued later, and if we didn't - they would not be alive now.

I love my fur family to bits and they are my cherished children and bundles of joy in my advanced age.

Though, I am experienced in cat care (my mother had cats when I was a child), but there is always something new to discover and questions arise time to time.

So thank you for this wonderful site providing wealth of information and community who promotes spay/neuter and is against declawing.

We'll be in-touch,

Nadia

Thank you very much for welcoming us.

There is actually quite a sad story concerning one kitten that I didn't even mention.
Well, I wrote a really large story the way it was some other paces on a web, and re-telling it still brings the tears to my eyes.

But in short (as short as I can get) it was like that:

My hubby and I were looking after his son's dogs which he abandoned when he moved into UK with his family. One old dog (14 year old) was very aggressive towards any other creature (he was NOT! neutered dog by choice of ex-owner, and it was too late to neuter him according to our Vets).

Me - I love cats with all my heart and all I wanted is a cat in our family.

So, time past and our first kitten May was adopted by us from local shelter (SPCA) together with a new puppy (Mia) at their age of 6 weeks for May and 8 weeks for Mia. My husband loves dogs more, but he loves all animals as well.
Mia-the-puppy loves cats to bits, and in-fact she thinks that she IS a cat (I even had to raise her bed so she would sleep up-higher like a cat) And she allows kitties sleep in her high basket any time they want.

Anyways, when May grew older - she was very swift and kept herself safe from the dogs and at that time Mia was also accepted by other old dogs without being killed by the male not neutered dog.

But... Some time when May and Mia were already spayed (at around 5 month old) - my mother phoned me and said that she had a strange thing in their house. She found that a stray cat brought the litter of two kittens and put them on my sister's bed there. (pets were not allowed in their complex of garden flats then).
So, I came and took the two kittens from them and my husband took them to SPCA so that they could look after them and so they could be adopted in future,.. but only he found that SPCA did not want to deal with such young kittens (for the lack of skilled staff), saying that so young (approx. two weeks of age - eyes were just opened) they were goners and only they can do is to put them to sleep for you.
So, we ended up with them and managed with help of our vets, and they are now my love and pride - Janie and Johnie - glorious almost two year olds by now.
Janie looks Siamese-like seal point, but medium hair, and Johnie looks Egyptian Mau-like, silver tabby short hair.

Some days later after us adopting Janie and Johnie, my mother discovered another kitten of the litter and she was saved and ended up with us too.

Her name was Jillie. She only lived for about a week with us. The terrible accident happened when I was at work - that is the old male dog (not neutered one) got into the house, where he was not allowed, and killed Jillie.
We were heart broken for VERY long time and that dog was taken to the vets and put to sleep immediately after Jillie was killed - it was my ultimatum to do so. I just said - it's either me and the cats including Mia-the puppy, or that monster dog. So, it was done.
That dog's spayed sister (also old) is doing much better with young Mia without that monster, who molested her all the time, and she is a black lab cross ridge-back and she loves cats too. That old girl is a kind person.

So, all in all, one day my husband ended up in the SPCA again (helping someone else), and he saw a kitten there and fell in-love with her (Ambie - Amber is her official name).
He asked me to come and look at her, even that I didn't want to adopt any more cats after what happened to Jillie,... and Ambie was in the same enclosure with another kitten, who was not friendly and hid all the time from humans.
When we came into that enclosure - I asked the handler about that kitten and he said that if not adopted - she will be soon put down, for no-one wanted to adopt such tiny and not friendly kitten-girl.

After much consideration I said to my husband that if he wanted his cat - we are going to adopt both. It was agreed.
So, Midnight came to us along with Ambie and because Midnight is totally of feral nature and very small in statue - she was afraid of so many things, and she showed so much of the personality of late Jillie. She even had a bold marks on her head - (the wound points on Jillie's head when she was killed)
Midnight recovered with us, but still, she will not recognize any other human at all apart from myself. I would say that Midnight is a one-man-only cat.
More to that - Midnight feels to me as if Jillie came back. But that's just my feeling.

Well, that's about all there is to the story of my kitties so far.
Our little May is now 2.5 years old,
Janie and Johnie are turning 2 years old on 21st of this month,
Ambie and Midnight are turning 2 years on 12th of February this year.

May was very sick for a short while and that was promptly fixed by our good vets and she is the healthiest kitty now for long, long time and will be forever.
Ambie and Midnight (especially Ambie) had a bad diarrhea shortly after they were adopted, but that too is in a past - we took them to our good vets often for that. Now they are as healthy as I'd wish and never ever since were they sick.
Janie and Johnie stayed healthy ever since we rescued them, but Johnie took some trips to vets because I worried for him to get thin and wondering off the property, only vets said that it's great body shape for a boy at his age. Now he is a very large, massive cat, though still slim body. So much like EM!!!

Also:
About a year ago I gave up my job to be a full-time mom to my fur babies.

Thank you once again for welcoming us here.
