Ted Williams...

Am I the only one who is sick of hearing about him?? Sure, he's lucky to have good things happen in his life.
But, he seems shady to me. I think they need to leave him alone for a while and see how his work ethic will be for a year or so, then come back to him and do a story on him...

Yeah, but I think the attention is not really for him, its for the viewers. Its a feel good story of redemption.

He says he found Jesus, so it makes the Christians happy to see that contributed to his recovery. He says he wants to show his mom he's back on top before she dies, so you have that demo. He says he wants to be a good hard working tax paying citizen, so even the cold hard righties gotta give a thumbs up as an example to other leaching bums, heh.

So if it helps someone see a twinkle of light at the end of the tunnel who is down in the dirt after screwing up in life as he did, then its all worthwhile.

So I see no harm, and I'm glad the guy is catching a break and will give him the benefit of the doubt that he can stay clean.

It is getting somewhat tiring...but it is a great story. There is probably a lot of hidden talent on the streets that will stay there, sadly. Hopefully his fame isn't short lived. I wish nothing but the best for him.

I hope all this attention puts some positive pressure on him to go to rehab. This second chance won't mean anything if he doesn't have sobriety.

I agree, and I wish him the best also, but while there are a lot of talented people on the streets, a lot of times they are there because of the bad choices they've made or their lack of determination to put their talents to good use. You can be really good at something but if you're an alcoholic you're not likely to be very productive, and no company will keep you around.
So, I just want to see if he is willing to work hard, not just that he's given this opportunity- it's why I want to see him a few years from now...

From what I understand, he's been clean for two years and already had a career in radio.

But after a nasty divorce and drugs and alcohol addiction, he naturally lost his job. Likely couldn't find a new one since he can't pass drug tests which almost everyone does now, and eventually the money ran out and he was on the streets going to food shelters and getting whatever money he could on the street for booz/cigs/drugs.

He says he became very religious and got clean at the same time around two years ago, so I'm guessing he probably did check himself into (or was forced by court order) AA which is faith based get-clean program.

Its a nice story for people who have messed up that there is always still time to fix it (this guy is over fifty IIRC), and it was touching that he got to show his mom he's back on track before she passes.

Actually, back on track is an understatement. He landed not only a job, but a free house, and reportedly from all his TV appearances was given a TON of money.

It's nice to hear he's seems to be getting his life in order but somehow I think he's not going to be able to handle the attention and will end up doing drugs again. I guess we'll see what happens.
