10.12 pounds!

That's how much weight I've lost!! Of course having been sick over Christmas helped!

I thought I had lost about 6 pounds, but I weighed myself at work on a digital scale yesterday and converted it. It's 10.12 pounds!

My rings are loose, even the one that I bought myself for Christmas (the amethyst). Every time I wash my hands, all of my rings slip off my fingers and I'm constantly pushing them back on during the day because they feel like they are slipping. So I didn't wear my rings today.

I talked to one girl today. She's been losing weight very successfully!!! I asked if she would be my weekly weigh-in buddy. She's agreed. I figure if I have to account to someone once a week, I'm more inclined to work harder and stick to my sensible eating plan.

So starting next week Friday (she's away this Friday), we are going to weigh each other and keep track.

So I know I have to be down a couple pounds by next week Friday! And I can do that!!!

Congratulations! I'm sorry it took being sick to help shed a few pounds too, but I hope you're able to stay on track while being healthy too!

I could do with losing a few prednisone pounds, but I just like food too much. If my pants stop buttoning, then I will really kick myself into gear. Actually I plan to be working in the yard/garden a lot this year, so hopefully that will help too, and when the weather warms up a bit more and there's longer daylight, biking/walking in the parks is in order.

Wow,thats good!

My Dh and I have been on the Weight Watchers deal. He has dropped 7 lbs. I haven't weighed myself, but my rings are spinning too! We've been on it for a week now.

Good luck to you and all who are trying to loose weight!

Congrats!! I hope having a weigh-in buddy will help motivate you to continue to succeed.

I'm not going to start back on my lower-carb diet until after the baby is here and I speak with someone about what nutrients I need for nursing Amber. If I can't do lower carb while nursing, I'll just add exercise to my routine until I can.

My goal is to get back down to 140lbs sometime after she's born. I know I can do it, because I've done it before, I just need to make sure to get off my rear and get to it.

Congratulations! Isn't it a great feeling? You sound pretty motivated, so I bet you'll have great success at it!

Well done Linda!!. It's amazing how much losing a few lb's can make, but that's great

I need to start cutting down, but after my Indian meal with the girls next Friday

Congrats! I went through the weight loss trials a year or so ago and it's tough, so good for you for seeing some success and sticking to it!

I love food too, but I discovered it's not so much how often you eat, just what you eat and how large the portions are. I managed to drop 30 lbs a year ago while eating a very delicious varied diet! Just cut out a lot of processed stuff and upped my vegetable intake (well there're more details than that of course, but that's the overall summary).

Avoiding refined sugars, refined flours, and refined oils will definitely help the pounds come off, I agree 100%, plus they are bad for our health overall.

I've been on the "stress diet" for over a year. It's when you're not ever hungry and everything tastes like sand anyway. I've lost more weight but I don't recommend that diet.

I haven't been following any special diet. Though I do want to start back on my Jenny Craig. I love cooking once and freezing extra portions for future meals.

All I've been doing so far is just cutting back on my portion size, staying away from junk food (chips/chocolate) and not snacking in the evening.

I eat my cereal in the morning, have my lunch and then dinner. Sometimes I will keep my fruit from lunch and have it in the middle of the afternoon.

And I've increased my water intake! Lots and lots and lots of plain ordinary tap water!

So far as exercise goes, not doing too much of that other than trying to increase the amount that I walk at work. However, it's difficult, the more I walk, the more my leg hurts later that day or the next, which sets me back so that I can't walk as much. But I'm trying.

After next week that's how i'm going to do it now. My days of being a UK size 10/12 are over now because i'm not in my 20's anymore and it is harder to lose when your older, but i won't deprive myself of anything either because i don't want to me miserable

Still losing! Down 2 kg from Jan 28 for a total of a 20.4 pound loss so far!!!

It is a great motivation when you start to shed those pounds, you just want to keep going. And just a few pounds like that and you can feel the difference in the way your clothes fit. I don't use a scale, I go by how my clothes, jeans, fit...

I like to eat too, so I try to work off calories for that day of the "sweet" thang I crave. I lost about thirty pounds four years ago and have been able to keep it off to some extent. Calories in, calories out. Well, not always. I do go up and down five pounds or so now and again. It seems it is a never-ending battle with the bulge.

Congrats Linda!!!
I also lost all the weight I had put on during my unemployment - a whopping 40 lbs since I started working, in May!!
I am not dieting at all, my diet is called happiness and un-stress
I guess it helps that I am working and not laying around 24x7 anymore... But the biggest change is that I am just... well... Happy!
One thing that I do though, and that is more due to my IBD than anything else, is I take fiber before each meal. I take 2tsp of golden flax meal mixed with 1/2 cup of orange juice prior to each meal (then a glass of water)... That is really the only thing I do...
Anyways congrats again, and keep going!!

Congratulations on the weight loss. I just wanted to say, you can take your rings to the jewelers and for just a few dollars they can put a ring guard on them. It will make them fit your fingers and your won't have to get them cut down. It is always expensive to do that. I have a ring that was my dad's I wanted to wear and the jeweler fixed it with a ring guard and now I can wear his ring.

Linda, that is GREAT! When you can feel it in your clothes, it really is motivation to keep going, isn't it?

That's awesome!!! I've lost about 10-15 pounds since summer as well, and it's mostly due to eating more fruits and exercising.
I've been really enjoying the fruit and cottage cheese combination, I eat half a cup of cottage cheese with lots of fruit for one of my meals (usually breakfast), and cottage cheese has lots of protein so that helps with building some muscle and replacing the fat with it- so I've lost a lot of % fat and I look and feel much healthier.
It's amazing what a few pounds can do - I feel like my overall fitness level is so much better, and I've been doing just a few workouts here and there, but I've done them pretty consistently and when I ran on the treadmill the other day I was so surprised to find out that I was able to run for 30 minutes straight without any stopping!! It felt really great...

Twenty years ago when my mom was 65 years old and wore a size 18 U.S. (one more size up is plus sizes), she started aerobics and went down to a size 6 in less than a year! I couldn't believe how tiny she was when I saw her! She also ate lots of fruit, veggies, and nuts (instead of her usual ice cream), but she has been healthy all her life so she felt great at that age before she started exercising. <- huge factor.

I've got health issues and chronic pain; most days it's tough just to do some yoga stretches.
