Hi,

Well...maybe most of this is attributable to the quick kick that she got from a prednisone shot, but at any rate Jasmine is eating again! I came home from work and found that she had eaten quite a bit during the day, and then she ate more when I gave her food this evening! The best part, though, is that the URI seems to be clearing up. She is breathing much easier today and doesn't seem wheezy. She just seems much more herself today. I guess maybe all the doses of Lysine (Enisyl) and the convenia shot is working, along with all the herbal/oil meds that I've been giving. My vet is into some of the Eastern medicines for certain things - especially an herbal mixture that is supposed to help the immune system. So, we'll see how long the improvement continues. If she slides back downhill again soon, then we'll know that it is just a prednisone-induced 'high'. At least I don't have to force feed tonight.

Thanks again to all who have been following my thread and sending vibes, prayers, and well wishes. It all helped! Fingers crossed....

That's great Keith

You know, nutrition play a great part, prednisone does increase the appetite, which is a great thing, and probably the antibiotics are kicking in now...
IMHO, why borrow trouble Keith? Think positive... It is possible your girl just had an URI and is getting over it -it happens all the time... She is not going to be the first, or the last... One day at time... For now she is doing better, and that is fantastic news! Way to go!

I am so glad she is doing better. Hopefully she will continue to improve which I think she will since she is eating again on her own.

Hi,

Thanks again to everyone who has followed this thread. Jasmine is continuing to do quite well! The URI really seems to have cleared up. She continues to sneeze a bit, but that's pretty much the way she has been on and off over the past year or better. Best part is that she has regained much of her appetite (with help from cyproheptadine) and is eating pretty well. All this may be short-lived, or may need another round of pred next week again, but at least it is so nice to see her up and around, eyes open, alert, and maintaining a decent quality of life. I'll take it for as long as it lasts and enjoy it day by day.

Best,
Keith

I don't know how I missed this update last week, but I did. So glad your Jasmine is much improved! I hope that she's continued to improve over the past week.

For sneezes, I give Hannah 1/8-1/4 teaspoon of PURE (no alcohol) Evening Primrose Oil. It has helped her tremendously as she's a chronic sneezer due to her herpes. Run it by your vet to see if he approves.
