my family (DH, live-in sister) think I'm a little extreme when it comes to my care guides. I have these for when I and DH go on vacations, and the care guide includes the "basic" care info, emergency info, if a cat escapes the house instructions, lost cat signs, and health histories on all the animals. here's my detailed list of the stuff in the file folder for pet-sitting:
- emergency evacuation instructions (also have emerg. evac kit for animals ready to go in the garage in an easy access location)
- care guide (feeding, cleaning, playing)
- medical emergency information (includes what constitutes as an emergency)
- cat profiles for vet office
- Micro-chip #'s
- "If a cat escapes the house" instructions (includes ph. #'s for all local shelters, vet offices, animal control. need to add local police station...)
- health histories (all paperwork from any vet visit)
- vet authorization form for if the sitter needs to take them to the vet (signed and dated when I leave for vac.)
