A few months ago I posted re: mother cat & 6 kittens. Can't find the post now.
I have brought in 3 of the 6 kittens. One was trapped, 1 I picked up from my front porch and the 3rd I opened the front door & she came in (1 male, 2 females). The remaining kittens are outside & are somewhat friendly.
I already have 5 indoor cats (4 of them were originally strays).
The 1st kitten I trapped was taken to the vet & tested positive for FIV. We are keeping all 3 kittens separate from our other cats. I am waiting to test the others when they are 6 months old.....because I have read that the test for FIV (on the 1st kitten trapped) may have been positive due to antibodies in the mother's milk when they nursed.
The reason I am posting.......
One of the 3 kittens has terrible diarrhea, but off & on. A few days the stools are formed and then the next day its back to diarrhea. The odor is pretty bad!! Then they are firm again & a few days later liquid.
He's been to 1 vet & on the 1st visit was given a shot (antibiotic) and a worming pill. That didn't work so 2nd visit he got ALBON. That didn't really work either.
So I went to another vet who examined the stool sample I brought with me to the appointment. Vet saw roundworms in the stool sample so he gave the kitten a pill (Drontal) & gave me another pill (Nemex) to give the kitten 3 weeks from that appointment (3 days from today).
It seems to me that my kitten shouldn't have diarrhea at this point?
Or when I give the kitten the 2nd pill it will finally clear up?
Update on kittens....
