We had another snow storm... I know some of you guys are like "WIMPS! Thats nothing!" And true for a lot of places it isnt. For here, its bad. At 5 AM we got a text from a local news station saying that they were pulling all plows from all roads and making them focus only on the interstates. It was snowing too fast and they couldnt keep up! My car does not approve of snow, a long with the fact its easier to wreck in the snow, and the fact that my airbag could go off scares me a lot. (I had major chest and heart surgery as a baby and any pressure on my chest bothers me. And I know anyday I could wreck, but I try avoid it when the odds go up!)
Luckily I have a job that closes when weather is bad! So I decided to bundle up and go play with the camera for a few this morning!

The busier roads are clear right now, but still wet, and the snow is still falling!

All of my sad plants

My magnolia tree makes me extra sad!

The s2 has been stuck out in the snow. Its used to being babied and hiding in the garage!

We had a snowstorm too, well I'm 2 hours away from Gatlinburg in Atlanta and if I remember correctly you're in that area so it figures both places got snow...I hate the cold weather. Only a week ago I was in Bulgaria freezing my bum off, and when I first got back home in Atlanta I was like WOW what gorgeous weather, I didn't even need to use heat, and I wore lighter clothing than usual...
Then two days later I became my old cold blooded self, and I set my heat to 85, which usually means my room is around 90, and I love it!!
I would be sooooo happy living somewhere tropical, I think some place like Miami or Sarasota even would be a good place for me..

We are expected to get a snow storm tomorrow in Wednesday. We already had about 19" three weeks ago and that was bad. Then we had a couple of inches just a couple of days ago but that was nothing.

The good thing is that they plow here pretty quickly and I live right off a major highway so that is always cleaned immediately also. The luckist thing of all is I don't have to get up and go to work :-)))

I'm about 5 minutes from Jordi but my house is up on a ridge so a bit higher in elevation. We have 6 inches right now, the sun has come out and melted it a little but it is still so cold that what has melted has turned to a hard icy crust on the snow. Our driveway is a hill, and we are at the top of a hill in the neighborhood. We salted the driveway last night but this morning we couldn't see it. The street we live on hasn't been plowed and it would be very unsafe to try to go out right now. I think that the biggest difference that causes the southern states to be 'wimpy' about snow is that we don't have the equipment to deal with it like places that get it regularly. Right now all the side streets are either covered or have started to melt, but haven't been plowed or salted or anything, so there is really no going out.

Oh and utOpia - how on earth do you get to Atlanta from Gatlinburg in 2 hours?!?!

AMEN to that! It was great getting a text message this morning that said "work is closed" and then turning the alarm off and sleeping in until 9. I have a friend who runs the front end at a local grocery store and he has to go open up every morning, no matter what.

Knoxville has gotten a lot better with plows and salt trucks. I think there used to be about 2 for the entire city and the only roads they ever cleared were the interstates and Kingston Pike. For the others, you just had to wait until it thawed. That was back in the 80's when we seemed to get crazy amount of snow every year. We had so many snow days a couple of times that we used all the built-in ones and had to go to school later at the end of the year to make it up. The other problem besides the snow plows is the lack of experience in the drivers. Even if you're from Minnesota and have a lot of experience driving in the snow, the guy behind you or in the oncoming lane probably doesn't. With all the hills and narrow curvy roads we have around here, that's a recipe for disaster.

Yeah its definitely an adventure! I have seen 2 plows go by on the road in front of the house but neither had their plows down, and I didnt see any salt coming out. The side road to get into our driveway is horrible! And so is our driveway!
I have to say, I am super glad the boy bought that subaru!

Our company has an "its up to you" policy, where if we dont feel safe we can call in and there wont be any problems. The boys office, if Knox schools are closed then he can come in when he can. So I have a ride to work if I need it on snowy days. So this morning I sent my manager a text asking what everyone else was doing cause I didnt want to be the only one there and he said they decided to close all stores for the day!

We just had snow and woke up to zero degrees!!! But I'd rather have that than what I hear is going to happen in Georgia - freezing rain. Take care everybody!!!

PS, my daughter is getting ready to go to college, and her main factor is the weather where she goes, LOL!

So jealous

I woke up this morning to a frozen car. It had a ripply sheet of ice covering the entire car. Drove to work while sleet and freezing rain came down. By the time I got near work though, it was just raining (20 miles closer to the coast). My friend got some snow accumulation, she lives 20 miles west of me. So many places got closed today - my job remained open and you either showed up or used vacation time.
All the area bridges were closed at one point.

I would love to wake up to another winter wonderland like we had in February. I'm sort of hoping this climate change sticks around for a few years
South + snow = happy me!

I just went out and kind of cleared a bit of a path on the patio and to the mail box. I wanted to clear around the door, but the doormat is frozen solid to the ground
. Super annoying!
Its still barely snowing right now. They were calling for freezing rain this evening but I think that has been changed to all snow.
I think I am going to have a house full of boys tonight because they all want to play in the snow....
You'd never guess we were in our 20's! LOL!

I hate snow, but I'm glad I don't live somewhere that isn't accustomed to snow and can't deal with it. We got 10" of snow between yesterday and tonight, and it is still snowing hard. It's supposed to keep snowing until tomorrow morning. *GROAN* This is our first big snow storm, though, so I can't complain about that.

There's no place like home
We only got about 5 inches of snow here today, but it is still snowing so who knows what we'll wake up to in the morning.

My work place didn't close today. They sell snow blowers and snow shovels and the snow blowers were sold out by 10:30 this morning.

NYC had a historical blizzard weeks ago, and the pitiful city response is making it even more historical!
Tomorrow night we are expecting another snow storm, every so many hours the amount of expected snow goes up..... right now its 10 -15 inches, this morning it was 6-8.........
I have an installation tomorrow night for Cole Haan and have a feeling we are going to be stranded there!

I could not live anywhere that had that much snow! I would go crazy!

I know Garys sister is getting nervous hearing about all of the record snowfall in NYC. Her boyfriend got her a trip there for Christmas and they are going over their anniversary.
