I posted a while back about my girl Diamond, who has been living with renal failure. Well, we took her to a vet in the big town about an hour away from us, the vet there said what we thought - that she was still going downhill even though she seemed perky, and when she stopped eating or drinking, it was time to let her go. She checked Diamond's urine for a UTI and that was a negative.

This weekend, she started acting very strange. She moved out of her bed in the kitchen, where she's spent the last 12 years, and started hunting new spots to lay down in. She ended up on a makeshift bed I put together for her in my bedroom. She wouldn't touch her own food, and she nibbled briefly on Indiana's food, but it couldn't have been more than two or three pieces. She also drank out of his bowl on Sunday morning, but she hasn't touched water since then. She just stands at the bowl and yowls.

We made an appointment today to have her put to sleep. She seemed pretty good last week, but she started spiraling downwards really fast this weekend. She's been sitting in front of our fridge for the past two hours, and before that she was just standing over her water bowl and yowling, not drinking.
So we will be helping her pass on in about three hours. I wish she hadn't gotten this bad so quickly, our family hasn't had a good chance to say goodbye to her, but at least we're not trying to guess when the best time is.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this. I know how hard this is, this terrible decision.

I will be thinking of you and Diamond this afternoon. She really lucked out when she came into your life.

I hope everyone can get their chance to talk to her today.

God Bless.

I am so sorry - but you are acting for her, with love and generosity, and not wanting to leave her in pain for a day too long. Prayers for you all today.

I am so very sorry! You're doing the loving thing for your kitty and she knows this. We went through this same thing just a few weeks ago.

I'm so sorry. Having pets is the most wonderful thing in the world, and sometimes the hardest thing in the world.

I am so sorry that this had to happen.
I'm glad that you let her have a few more happy times... you waited until you knew that it was time to let go. Sending my prayers you and your family's way.

I am so sorry. You are doing the right thing. It is hard, but we show how much we love them when we put ourselves aside and think about them. I pray your heart will heal quickly.
