My Simba has been on Royal Canin SO for five months now. He previously had some crystals (Struvite; No stones or blockage) and a stubborn UTI (Blood & bacteria). We believe this to have been stress induced (I had taken in some orphaned kittens around this time- he was not fond of them). I'm going to be starting a feeding trial of an OTC food mixed with his SO, to see if this works for him. (Coupled with his water fountains and watered down canned food as well) Is Max Cat Adult still UT certified? I'm finding conflicting numbers for the magnesium levels. (Says .085 on Petsmart.com but says .09 on the Nutro site). I wanted to use this one since the ingredients are similar to SO. (ie: chicken first instead of corn)

I am on my second crystal cat. He is on CD dry.

I wouldn't change anything until I spoke with the vet. These things are too dangerous to "tweek" without vet approval.

Good luck and I hope he continues to do good.

I don't think any Nutro foods are "officially" UTI certified since they changed formulas awhile back.

Only two foods that come to my mind right now are Purina ONE Urinary Tract Health & Pro Plan Urinary Tract Health.

Yes, Nutro is but do to people SWITCHING off the RXs the kitties were RXed they removed it off the label... If you call them you can get the info( I called a number of months back and got it ) ...

UTI OTC certified is recommended for mild issue to preventative care
To the OP

PLEASE talk to your vet... Some cats are able move off the RX to a certified non rx, others are not... your vet is the best judge on this and your kitty
