Need help! Cat peeing on clothing

I have a 16 year old fixed male cat. He is a very affectionate and friendly cat who never gets angry or acts destructively and for the most part is very well behaved. Some times I leave clothing on the bathroom floor and for some unknown reason over the last couple of weeks he has occassionally been peeing on them. His litter box is change frequently and he is using it. He has shown no change in mood or temperament over the last few weeks.

What might be wrong. How do I get him to stop peeing on my clothes.

I would have him checked by the vet. Any sudden behavior change is cause for concern, especially at his age.

That being said, every cat I have ever known will pee on piles of dirty laundry if given the chance. I just learned not to leave piles of laundry on the floor!

He may have a UTI, as before mentioned. If it isn't a medical issue, I guess you will just have to keep the laundry away from him, as Willowy said.
