this is the way I do it

on the video this cat did not actually need a wash but i did not know that - she just had some stuck on the back of her leg
sometimes giving a full bath is not necessary and it is time consuming to dry a cat properly so it does not catch a respiratory health problem
the first time I tried this I held the front paws and supported the cat's head by clutching the skin in back of cats neck [this is a disabling hold as when its mother grabs it that way when it is a kitten it signals to the cat to stop struggling]
hubby held tail and back legs and guided backside under the water and maybe applied some liquid soap if needed
I use the tap water on strong flow so the water will dislodge any turds without me having to touch them myself
by the 3rd time doing it this way the cat lets me do it all on my own and just needs an occasional kiss on the forehead as reassurance that I am not trying to drown it lol and I speak softly to the cat throughout
I have found that all our cats [and I have owned over 20 over the years] when they have the runs will come and stand in a way that I have to see they need a clean
I was reading a paper on the floor and the cat backed up to my face just about
and another time I was snoozing and the cat jumped on me and turned round so its butt was in my face just about - I pushed her off me but she jumped right back on me and did not sit on me like normal but just stood there showing me she needs a clean
usually i dont bother drying the cat after this - though you can if you want to
cats prefer their butt washed for them if they are too dirty to lick it clean
