Wish me luck - but nothing major - just visit to vet

Just hoping that I have little trouble getting my kitties to the vet for their senior check ups this afternoon - I'm thinking they're fine and this is just a preventitive measure - but I'm not looking foward to getting them in the carriers. My girl especially hates visiting the vet. Of course, right now she's sleeping in the Sherpa bag - hope she's still there come 12:30 when we need to leave!

I'm so chicken - I'm taking one in, then coming home to get the other...I figure I didn't want them sitting at the vet longer than necessary while the other is being examined. Luckily, it's a clear day and a 5 minute drive and the office was great at scheduling the visits - carrier stuffing willing! Thanks in advance

Many good vibes coming your way!

Oh I know how stressful it is!!! UGH! I also dread getting them in their carriers and trying to act like "oh, I'm not looking for you" when you are thinking "oh man, how am I going to do this".

Sending for your kitties to get a clean bill of health and for you to come through this as well!!

Oh I'm sending good vibes your way because I know just how it is. Two of my 5 make me very nervous (sometimes for weeks ahead of time) when they have to go to the vet. And one of them you've all heard about (She Cat from Hell aka Ariel) requires reinforcements, hydrogen peroxide, and bandages (to mend the people involved) when she has to go.

Of course it won't be that bad for you today. The trick is to have the carrier near and ready. If you've had it out since at least yesterday, so they aren't alarmed by it, so much the better. You need to be sly, nonchalant, and act* like you are just going over to them to pet them. Then just be calm, assured, and do it quickly once you get a hold of them. If you have them in a room with the door closed (totally unaware of what is coming) that's helpful.

I hope they get a good report. Please keep up posted.

Robin

*"act" is the key word here. When I pull this off as I've described, I feel like I deserve an academy award.

I hope your cats are ok!

Would taking them together help calm them down, because they see each other? That's why we try to bring my 2 for back to back appointments.

Thanks for all your good wishes - and I hope the good luck they brought keeps coming!

Dharma was actually napping in her sherpa bag, so I zipped her up and ran - felt a little guilty about that. And I was able to lure Dante in with some kibble. Both were pretty good through the exams, which included a blood draw. But, both need dental cleanings, so I'm sure I'll be having more fun that day getting them in and to the vet.

My4, I thought about bringing them together, but worried about stressing them out with the longer appointment - you know, one waiting while the other was being checked out. But, they both get to go to the dentals. I scheduled them for the same day, so I'll have a chance to see if there calmer in the car, or in the waiting room, that day.

I should hear the results of the blood work and UA's on Monday - I always worry about my boy because he had struvite crystals, but he's seemed ok so far.

Thanks again for the good wishes.

Great to know that the visits went well! for results. Really hope that they'll check out fine

Calvin likes his carrier and so we've kept it in his room. He goes in to groom himself there at times and nap at others. So I can fool him into getting in his carrier. Was just not happy, though, that I had to take him 2 days in a week ( his vomiting earlier and microchipping today).
