I check the pet section on craigslist every so often to browse the cat listings, ultimately getting mad at the reasons people abandon their cats after periods like 6 or 8 years. Well, unrelatedly, today I saw a kitten wanted listing that I had to email the person about.

I always have to laugh at the expectations people have in and of the craigslist community. Finding someone rehoming a siamese cat would be rare enough on craigslist in and of itself (there aren't a ton of cat listings in general), but under 3 months as well?
8 weeks is the youngest a cat would be seperated from it's mother, ideally 12 weeks. It's a short list when you consider those two limiters. This is especially laughable because they clearly didn't do the research to discover there is a rescue center called "siamese cat rescue center" in chicago, and it is the top result when doing a generic cat search on petfinder

Hopefully your email will help educate her, most Oriental breeders keep kittens for 14-16 weeks so wanting one under 3 months is unrealistic.

I'm sure a pointed domestic could be easily found though.

On the other hand, we have Siamese-appearing kittens at the shelter on a very regular basis.

I'm sure she is just thinking of a pointed cat. Here at least, most people call ANY pointed cat a siamese. B/c of that they are really hard to get (trust me, I've always wanted one) so even in rescues they are the first to go, and people on Craigslist charge an arm and a leg for them, even though they are no different than a bi color or a calico, etc.

So this post is ridiculous, but in another way.

http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/pet/2149801880.html

The owner gave their cat up for adoption when they moved to a pet-unfriendly apartment, and now that they moved again to a pet-friendly apartment, this person is sending out a craigslist post asking for the cat back. I am dumbfounded at why this person would post this on craigslist. Wouldn't you guys remember something about the people you rehomed your cat to, and isn't posting on craigslist a far stretch? I for one don't go looking on craigslist to see if Memphis' first owner is looking for him back, and even if the person contacted me I would tell them where they could shove it. You can't rehome a cat when they're inconvenient then when it's convenient go and try to get her back.

I wonder if the poster will get their kitty back...
