Do you like tea?

And what is your favorite kind??
I've always hated tea, because i thought it tastes just like hot water to me. Recently I got sick and I wanted to drink something warm, since the only coffee I like is the kind that's loaded with cream and sugar or syrup in the case of my favorite starbucks lattes. Well anyway, those aren't very healthy so I decided to try drinking tea instead. I first tried camomile and mint herbal tea, and I hated it- it had no taste to it only a scent, but the taste was basically hot water :puke:
Then I tried this linden flower herbal tea in Bulgaria, and I really liked it, as well as Tazo's wild sweet orange tea which was my favorite. I could easily drink it without cream and sugar, because it had a nice sourness and refreshing flavor to it, and it came out of a tea bag. I haven't been able to find those in the grocery store here though They have Tazo tea here but only a couple of varieties, none of the wild sweet orange kind.
I just got Earl Gray tea to try- and I'll have to see if this one has any taste or if it's just a scent like the teas I'd tried and hated before.
So, anyone else feel the same way about teas?? What flavors do you guys like, I'm curious because I want to find something good

ETA the Earl Gray tea tastes like hot water to me too It has no flavor at all only this pleasant scent.

Try Ross for tea! Thats where I get mine!
I have recently become very addicted to hot tea. but I almost always have to add a spoon full of sugar, but I've been trying to cut back!
I am currently drinking Tea of Life Immune Tea. Its pretty good. kind of has a spicy smell to it. It came in a set with slimming tea, destress tea, and another kind.
I also have Mango Green Tea
Pumpkin Spice Tea
And a few kinds of tea from China. 2 kinds that are oolong type teas and a type of flowering tea, and iron budda tea that I have not opened yet! Gary has been to China twice and always brings back a lot of tea! I am trying to find a nice mug that will allow me to brew loose leaf tea at work!

I highly recommend checking out Trader Joes if you have one near you. Bfs step mother gave me a slew of different hot teas. My favorite is jasmine green tea, I actually add a couple of that flavor to my regular green tea when making ice tea. Ginger pear is ok but very very strong you might like it. Pomegranet white tea is good a nice strong flavor and I only add a tsp of sugar to it. Bigelow teas are pretty good I found them at my local grocery store and they have a yummy orange spice and lemon zest tea in their mix box.

Good luck finding teas, I know not all are good. I haven't found Earl Grey to be too bad.

I do enjoy some teas, though my favorites are probably not everybody's. I absolutely love extra strong green tea. It's gotten tothe point where the bitterness is my favorite part, and it actually feels like it's helping you.

I also like Earl Grey. Mostly I like stong, non-fruit flavors in my tea. Fruit flavors always end up tasting like someone mixed potpourri with hot water.

I drink Tazo's "Awake" tea every morning during the work week. My daughter drinks a Green/Citrus tea. I've always loved hot tea and taught my daughter to appreciate it at around age 2. LOL

My favorite is a red raspberry flavored tea by Bigelow. It has a sharp bitter taste to it, which I love. I also really like "Constant Comment" which is an orange and sweet spice flavored tea which is also by Bigelow. You may like the Constant Comment, it sounds most like what you were describing. We make our sun tea with that every summer, we use Constant Comment and Luzianne tea bags and it's delicious! I tend to prefer fruit flavored teas, and I also like mint tea. Remember with hot tea, to get the flavor you need to let it steep for a while, otherwise you will just get the scent.

Being English liking tea is almost a forgone conclusion Yes, I like tea! Herbal or fruit teas I drink in the office because I always forget either to take milk to work or to bring my thermos that keeps it cool home with me.

My favourite tea to drink at home is Twinings Assam with milk and sweetener. I could drink it all day long.

When I was in Key West last Spring, the owners of the fabulous B & B where we stayed had Twinings English Breakfast (another tea I love). They boiled water especially for me every morning. They knew that I would want the water boiling properly for my tea, not just the hot water in the machine they made coffee with - they were wonderful

I really only like black or orange teas, or a blend. Anything else taste bland or gross. And I absolutely hate green tea - there's some sort of aftertaste to it that I can't describe but I do not like it.

I like my tea sweetened with sugar.

If you can't find the teas you want in stores, order online. There are several sites that carry high quality teas and even import teas.

Yes! I love tea!!

My favourites are "Tetley" and most White Teas. I am not much of a green tea fan because it tastes so bitter to me. But I do love flavoured white teas.

When I drink Tetley, it has to be strong with just milk in it. I like it so strong in fact that I usually leave the tea bag in the cup while I'm drinking the tea.

So far as the flavoured white teas go, I will drink them hot either plain or iced. I've tried putting sweetener or honey into them, but I prefer them just plain.

I absolutely LOVE teas/herbal teals. My Mom got me a whole ton of different kids for Christmas but I am especially enjoying the Hickory Farms teas, so yummy.

Love tea! My favorite is green tea.

GO to Golden Moon tea. They have unbelievable amounts of yummy teas. My current favs are blueberry and wild blackberry. But those are cold teas. For hot teas I like Goji and anything, Blueberry pomegranate, and there's one more but I can't think of the name now.
Try Chai teas, they are stronger and taste fantastic..

Teas are delicious, I love chai tea though, great taste!

Constant comment is the flavor I just had today right before posting in this thread. Lol

I like Bigelow teas they are quite yummy. Their lemon zest one is good too if you haven't tried it.

I love Red Rose tea

I love Tazo Zen green tea. I also love Tazo Refresh
post #17 of 40
I only like sweet iced tea

I love love love tea!

Try Twinings Irish Breakfast, it's one of the stronger flavoured teas, and my favourite! Use boiling water, freshly boiled from the kettle (don't dare microwave the water!!!), and pour it onto the tea bag, and make sure it steeps for a couple of minutes

Lol maybe my mistake was microwaving the water, oops!!!
I thought it's the same if it brings it to a high enough temperature???

I am a tea snob... Most of mine are dried locally and grown in Japan... I love all the reg and true teas = black , green and white... Plus I love the Non teas like roobios and herbals

Brand wise I like Red Rose for my "regular" tea. I go through spurts where I drink a lot of it. I love most mint teas and fruity ones. Some are weaker than others; but sometimes thats ok too. Lemon tea is great! My mother in law got me hooked on making up iced green tea with fresh lemons and also made with mint tea and no lemons. Either way it's sooo refreshing!

And yes there is a difference when you boil. Sarah explained it all on facebook the other day. Also allowing it to steep long enough makes a difference.

From http://www.teamuse.com/article_020502.html

Quote:
The scientific process for boiling is the formation of steam bubbles, called "nucleation."
If a steam bubble forms inside the hot water, water molecules can evaporate into that steam bubble and make it grow larger and larger. That's why boiling only occurs at or above water's boiling temperature.

The hotter you heat the water, the larger the fraction of dissolved air you drive out of solution. By superheating water in the microwave, the dissolved air content may be reduced further than it would in a stove-top kettle. The result, as my tastebuds aver, is "flat-tasting" water.
I made a friend buy a kettle because I always drank tea at her place, and she only had a microwave, and the tea always tasted like dirty dishwater. It truly does make a huge difference!

You can just boil it on the stove too, just don't forget about it

Before we got the Keurig coffee pot at work, I had switched over to tea because our work coffee was so terrible and it got to the point where it was actually upsetting my stomach. I loved Twinings Irish Breakfast tea. I had some flavors of Celestial Seasonings (which aren't really teas) which weren't bad (Mandarine Orange was one that I liked). Trader Joe's makes some great teas, too.

Some afternoons are just good for tea and one of my co-workers and I will have a cup. We both love Earl Grey. I brought a tea kettle to work and we use that....no microwaving water for tea for us anymore. It doesn't taste the same.

My son's exGF was Japanese and she used to bring Morning Star Loose Leaf tea home for me whenever she went back to Japan. It was very mild-flavored, but it was quite good. I used tea balls to hold the leaves.

I love mint tea and, in the summer if I get up very early in the morning, I'll go out back to the garden to grab some fresh mint for my cup. DH loves iced mint tea, too.

For cold tea, I always like Luzianne tea bags. Unfortunately our store doesn't carry that brand very often.

As a general rule, no tea. I really do like hot tea, though, the way my mom's friend from Scotland made it, with milk and sugar. I don't drink the hot tea with meals, but sometimes get a craving for it, even when it's a hundred degrees outside.

I agree. There's a box of chai tea bags in my cupboard. I think the brand is Twinings. I like lots of honey and almond milk in my chai. It's like a hot dessert.

Earl Gray is wonderful!

I have a cute little teapot with a stainless steel mesh infuser. It looks like this but in avocado green with a black cover: Pic (You can't see the infuser in the pic) .... My best friend has something similar (with a mesh metal infuser), but mine's dishwasher safe and microwave safe (except for the mesh and cover)--- Hers isn't! Hers looks like this, but all in black: Pic They are really easy to use, especially mine because it's microwave safe.

I see there's also a clear glass one. Link

I like tea (I don't drink coffee), but not herbal or iced. I like it strong, but I've had to go to decaffeinated and I just can't seem to get it strong enough. It usually doesn't even taste like "real" tea to me.
I normally drink Tetley's Redbush and Vanilla, with a spoonful of honey and milk in it, but I like it that strong that I never take the teabag out. I also really like Twining's Redbush, Strawberry and Vanilla, but that is sooo hard to get hold of, I can only get it when I go and see my bro (or he comes here) - I think I can buy it online, but not checked the prices out.

I do like fruit teas, but am very fussy with them. I need honey in all of them, or they dont have enough flavour, and again, have to have the teabag left in. i keep meaning to try flavoured white teas.
I drink green tea everyday, several times a day, hot and cold
post #29 of 40
I am a coffee drinker but on occasion I will drink a cup of tea in the evening if I'm feeling a bit chilly. I drink just regular tea, nothing exotic but it is decaf tea.

My favorite is now Earl Grey Creme from Teavana with a 1/8 tsp of sugar. I got it in the 2009 Secret Santa exchange along with a one cup tea maker. It has a lovely smooth taste without being too bitter or sweet.
