I have a Siamese mixed rescued cat called a "Snow Shoe" .... I rescued Mr SOCKoooo in July 2009 from my vet. He was just dumped at an apartment complex to fend for himself. Mr SOCKoooo came to my vets office (he handles many rescues) the same exact day that Lita my Ragdoll died at only 6 /12 years old. I took Mr SOCKoooo in even though the vet figured him to be about 10 years old. I already was owned by 4 other purebred Ragdolls before this at the time. Mr SOCKoooo has been nothing but a piece of heaven for me while being unemployed with mounting debts. Mr SOCKoooo just loves to ride in the car
and I recently discovered within the last 6 months that he enjoys being pushed through Kmart, Walmart, Target, and local pet stores inside of the cart in the "little kid seat" on a towel. Mr SOCKoooo is very tame and is unleashed and LOVES all the attention that he receives from both employees as well as many customers while shopping inside of these stores
Talk about an "ice breaker" with people? Who would ever expect to see a cat in a cart in a store? All positive comments are welcome.....Please save your negative comments to yourself

Banshee loved to go places. I had taken her to a store to have her picture taken with Santa Paws one year. She was wrapped in her blankie.

We had to wait as the line for Santa was fairly long. So while we were waiting, DH and I decided to walk around the store itself. She was fine. And I think that the other shoppers thought maybe she was a human baby.

But the store had live birds flying around. And the birds chirped. As soon as Banshee heard the first chirp, her head popped out of the blanket and she was all wide-eyed. But she behaved very well. She stayed in my arms and watched the birds. And once the shoppers realized she was a feline baby, they would walk over to talk to her. Banshee loved to be the center of attention, so she took it all in stride.

I was always tempted to take her into PetSmart simply because she was such a good shopping companion. But she passed away before I could do so.

Midnight is way to shy for that. Luna I don't think would enjoy that. I know
Lynxx
wouldn't have. I've never seen a cat in a store, but I've seen lots of little Yorkies.

Animals are not allowed in stores here (apart from guide dogs of course). I have taken some of my cats to a pet shop where animals on leads are welcome.

Any place with food of any kind IN most areas will or has Every legal right to ask you to leave... Wal Mart as a corporation has a few rules about no animals to the point they told working ones to leave( obviously the working animals have the right to be there)

Stores like Ace, Lowes and Home Depot usually are fine about animals.... I have even had a few local restaurants invite Zoey to come in and hang out..

I love to see animals but just a heads up that one complaint may have you banned from that store( it has happened to a few people in my area)

Thanks for the warning Sharky.......I do respect your opinion with cats
You are the very BEST here Actually I pushed Mr SOCKoooo through Walmart 2 times......He was met by 3 different "Managers" while on our mission. NO Manager ever complained.....and 2 actually took the time to pet the cat...... How many stores see "CATS" inside of shopping carts while inside of stores???
Target was the same here.......Managers according to their "tag" that they had posted on their shirt were very receptive to Mr SOCKoooo while inside of the store. I do understand animals around food......Mr SOCKoooo does not go in a cart through grocery stores
Mr SOCKoooo just loves to have some fun and socialize a bit for a cat
I only want the very best for my 5 cats. I wish you all a Happy New Year

You have to be careful. Most of the stores now have a large food section and you can't bring in animals other then the service animals.

I used to take my Rex kittens to Petco/Petsmart for socialization with strangers when they were about 3 months old. They loved it and one clerk always wanted me to bring Tommy over to play on her counter at check out. He loved the attention and inspected what everyone bought and demanded pets too.
