Question of the Day Wed 01/05/11

I am home sick today so my question is this..........

How do your cats react when you are sick? Are the cuddlebugs or are the aloof, indifferent?

My girls visit me often when I am sick and in bed. Rusty came and wanted petting earlier, which is something she rarely does as she prefers DH. Dusty wants to snuggle most of the time. I don't know if it because I am sick, in bed as she normally likes to snuggle before I go to sleep at night, or the fact I have my electric blanket on and she likes the warmth.. . I hope it is because she wants to give me comfort.

Mine love to cuddle on me when I'm sick I'll wake up and find them all tucked closely around me.

Mine are all sensitive to how I'm feeling and know when I'm sick. They'll usually hover around me and want extra attention. Geronimo will want to sit in my lap more than usual, and Jinxy will "whine" and crawl all over me - especially if I'm upset over something. Salem is highly sensitive to us being sick: just before Randall had his stroke & heart attack, she was all over him and wouldn't leave him alone. It was really spooky how she could sense that he was fixin' to be really ill. If she ever crawls all over me like that I'm heading for the nearest emergency room!

Years ago, I had a cat who liked to sleep on my feet. One night I had sprained my ankle pretty badly, and obviously, couldn't stand to have any pressure on it. When BuffPuff (the cat) jumped on the bed that night, I cringed knowing that he was gonna plop down on my hurt foot. But he didn't. Somehow he KNEW not to lay on my feet because I was hurting. He didn't lay on my feet again till I could stand to have pressure on the hurt foot again. Freakiest thing I ever saw!

To a certain extent. Here, if the cats get fed regularly, they're happy and they're usually sleeping for the most part.

Our Rainbow Hydrox was very attuned to how I felt and if I wasn't doing well, even if I was just depressed, he was right there. Somehow he knew. Banshee was the same way to a certain extent, but Hydrox was THE nurse for me.

Whisper tends to jump on me when she jumps into bed. Which is OK for the most part, but right after I had that knee operation, she jumped right on the bad knee. It hurt!

Nora is a cuddlebug. She sniffs my breath often to see how I'm feeling. I'm not sure about Thomas or Walter b/c I haven't been really sick around them yet...other than a runny/stuffy nose.
