"Me" Time

Do you take time out to do things just for yourself? Maybe for a pedicure or a massage? Or a time when you make sure you're completely alone (cats don't count) and can do those things that you want to do?

When my DH is away on a business trip for a couple of days, that's when I take some "Me" time. I'll take a couple vacation days, spend some time on the sofa with a good book, do some computer graphics, cook something special just for me that DH might not enjoy, clean my house -- yes, I do enjoy cleaning when I'm home alone and can listen to music. Sometimes my sister or a GF and I will go out shopping and then hit a nice restaurant for lunch or dinner. When he's away in the summer, I'll take a small bottle of wine with a pretty goblet out to the deck and sit on the swing for awhile and just enjoy the quiet of the evening; often my sister will join me and we'll sit back and chat. It's time for me to do those things that I might not normally do when DH is home.

Do you have "Me" time? What do you do?

I have my nightly, relaxing bubble baths. I read, maybe have a glass of wine or a cup of herbal tea and read. SO relaxing.

Hubby usually works on Saturdays and I dont, so I tend to just hang around the house, sleep in, and relax on the couch with a book and the cats. Sometimes I'll take a vacation day near a holiday and he still works, and I do the same then. But even if he's home, I'm able to relax and read for awhile while he surfs the internet.

I love going to get pedicures as me time. As well as whenever I am off and the boy works I will usually just hang around the house, maybe do a little shopping in downtown, and relax. I try to take relaxing bubble baths, but that doesnt work well in our house...
Tried to take one last night actually. It resulted in Google sitting on the tub with his tail more than half way submerged in the water while he chased bubbles. And then he got really confused as to why his tail was heave, so then he ended up chasing his tail on the side of the tub....
Now I know some of you are saying, why dont you shut the door? Then I have little white feet sticking under the door and wailing going on outside of it....

I need some "me" time right about now. Right now, getting a good night's sleep would qualify.

I usually get quite a bit of me-time, since I do my work from home. When I know I'm going to have an entire day to myself, I tend to do a lot of in-depth crafting that I wouldn't get done otherwise. That's also when I color my hair

I'm all about "me time!" It's part of the reason I didn't want kids. I'm very selfish with my time, and I freely admit that.

I've never had a pedicure and I don't think I want one. I have ingrown toe nails and they hurt. I can't imagine someone massaging my sore toes!! I give myself my own pedicures. In fact I did one last evening.

"Me" time? What is that, exactly?

With a 16 month old, a full time job & household duties- the most "me" time I ever get is maybe an hour of reading on my Kindle before bed, if I can keep my eyes open long enough

I am fully devoted to narcissistic self-indulgence as a life-style choice, and so all time is me time even when others are around.

I go grocery shopping once a week without the baby. Does that count?

Many Friday afternoons my Mom will come pick the baby up for a few hours. Not every week; but often enough. I love that time. I'll nap, run an errand or two or just putter around. Sometimes it goes way too quick!

I spend all day alone I hate it with a passion because its not fun. There's nothing that I like doing alone that I can't do with bf here. He actually helps occupy the munsters so I can crochet or read or just have some peace a quiet. Its very very very rare that either of us go off and do something seperately and if it is seperate that usually means that him and his brother are off doing something and sil and I are at her house vegetating (we nap on the couches haha) or her and I are grocery shopping.

I have to share this... this is what is taking up all my time. I'm determined to actually finish this. Ill either try and sell it or it will be a couch woobie. The green matches what my dishes look like and what color I want it so it may go over the section of the couch that faces the kitchen to tie the living room and kitchen together.

It took me a week of trial and error to get the ripple pattern correct. Its 60 in wide and going to be about 70+in tall. Its all Loops and Threads except the small off white stripes which are Caron Simply Soft.

My "me time" is beach time. I go by myself to the beach and sunbathe, walk, body surf and keep my beach journal. I go every Saturday for about 3 hours unless I am too busy . If it's too cool to sunbathe, I walk-run on the beach for a longer than than my usual walk and don't go in the water.

I am totally Jonesing for a beach day. It has been since the week before Thanksgiving since I went because I've been extra busy over the holidays. This weekend we are cleaning up all the Christmas decorations, so it will probably be Jan 15 before I get there again and I am really looking forward to it!!!

Beautiful blanket!! You know, if you ever um, accidentally make an extra one and yuou need to get rid of it, you can send it to me. I'd help you out there.

I have a lot of alone time, like 3CatsN1Dog, but I don't really treat it as 'me' time. I don't do the massage or mani/pedicure thing, but I do love a hot bath, and I probably have one about once a week, maybe less.

Someone mentioned grocery shopping.. I LOVE grocery shopping for some reason, I go several times a week and just buy a few things at a time. Sometimes BF wants us to both go shopping and do a huge stock up. I hate that, because then I have to wait longer to go on my own again!

My Aunt is a crocheting nut but she lives too far away to really teach me. :\\ But it does give me lots of respect for those who can knit or crochet!

Thanks. My living room is off white with dark wood trim. Bf picked the browns to match the trim and couch. If he doesn't help pick colors ill stand in the yarn section forever debating colors or wanting everything.

Lol!! I do have an evil blanket that has been the bane of my existence for almost a year I'm half tempted to part with. If I ever finish it it would fit a queen or king sized bed and weighs a million pounds! I bought the yarn without ever working with it before and once I started the blanket realized I HATE that yarn and now can't bring myself to finish it. I bet I could stuff that bad mamerjammer into a postal box lol if you get another box that looks like it will explode from over stuffing again you'll know what it is lol.

If you lived closer id teach you. I taught myself off you tube videos and that was just last feb. It kills my hands too, especially my knuckles. I have a really tight grip for the yarn and hook and had to train myself to loosen up. Don't give up though if you really want to learn , I can send you some links to sites that helped me a lot if you ever want to pick up a hook again.

I adore this blanket but if I plan on something for myself I never finish it but if its for someone else I can whip it out lickety split. I've had a scarf on a hook for almost 6 mths now for myself and just can't bring myself ti work on it but when I thought about making a paneled lapghan instead I wanted to work with it. I figure even if I never actually sell anything I'm still happy giving the stuff away for someone else to enjoy but I'm always for hire if anyone ever wants something made

That blanket is gorgeous...no other word for it! My grandmother tried to teach me how to crochet, but I didn't have the patience for it. I should try it again. You do beautiful work!

Thanks Pam. Sometime I don't have the patience for it because id like to go 'poof' and it all be done but once I finally get something done all the hand cramps jaw clenching and swearing if I have to frog work makes it alllll worth it. I really worried about this blanket it took a long time to get it started roughly a week to research patterns and tips on how to make a ripple and then figuring out how to create my own pattern out of what I read. I adore the colors that bf and I picked out for it the green is my favorite.

Now I gotta work on it somemore just a bit more to finish of the off white and then its onto the dark brown and so on and so forth. Ill post an updated pic at some point I'm sure ill be needing some tcs motivation to finish it. Lol once this is done though I know what I'm making next. A sweater for my weenie dog and if I have enough grey ill make a matching one for his best friend the pug.
