Say hello to Rudy, my old time Abby

This is Rudy, he just turned 16 this past Dec 1st. He is the most loving, affection cat I have ever had live with me. Two years ago we almost lost him, he lost weight and was not in control of his bowel movements, then we bought one of our Savannahs, learned of their required diet and decided to change Rudy to the diet and he has come back so much that there is no end in sight. Hope you enjoy his pics.

This is Buster, our Bengal, Rudy and me!

Such beautiful cats! Thanks for showing them to us.

Do you mind telling, briefly, what was the dietary change that turned things around for Rudy?

Yes, we switched him over to all slightly cooked organic chicken. My wife buys boneless chicken thighs, boils it for 10 - 12 minutes (depending on how much she cooks, sometimes longer when cooking a lot), she chops it up in a chopper making it easy for him to eat it and he just loves it. She makes enough to feed him and our Savannahs for about 4 days. Rudy gained his fullness back. Our vet was against this because it was not a fully rounded diet but if we didn't do this Rudy would not be here today. As I am typing this Rudy is on my lap rubbing all over me...makes it hard to type.

Thanks for the info Michael. Do you give them vitamin supplements?

My Lily is always on my computer, leaning on my computer, pushing keys on my computer, and generally making a mess of the whole thing. She likes to lay on it because it is warm, and she likes my attention.

Beautiful aby! How big is he? In the picture he looks almost the same size as your bengal. I've never seen a bengal in person, but I had the idea that they are usually quite a bit bigger than abys.

Rudy is large for an Abby, in his hay day we was 12 lbs., now probably 8 lbs. Buster is just 10 lbs. I have heard of some Bengals being very large but Buster is the size of an average cat. I had an F2 Bengal before Buster, his name was Sparkles. He was 12 lbs. We had him for 14 years until Lymphoma took him from us. He had a wilder look than Buster but he still was not overly large.

12 pounds! He definitely is bigger than most of the abys I've seen. Mine is only about 7.5 pounds, which is on the small side. At least he looks slightly smaller than the other abys I've seen at shows.

Michael... is he a red or a ruddy... hard to tell in the pics. He is a beautiful boy!

You have beautiful cats! I just love that one of Rudy belly up in the sunshine. You can't get a cat more content than that.

Hello all, unfortunately I have to report bad news, Rudy has taken ill. My wife and I went away on a long trip and our house sitter said Rudy wouldn't eat for her. It appears he has an tooth problem and in the span of 3 weeks has lost more than half his body weight. He is to weak to put under to correct the problem. He is on antibiotics for 5 days but he seems to have lost his desire to live. If he does not get better by the end of this coming weekend I will need to make a very hard decision. This is very sad but I can't handle seeing him suffer. I'm crying hard for him.
