I really apologize for this vent, I know it's pointless and I hate to whine and complain but I feel the need right now...
I came home last night from the airport and after a gazillion delays in my flight and changes in connecting flights as I came home from Bulgaria, I was just happy to be home and didn't think much of the fact that my bag didn't arrive. I thought it will most likely come tomorrow, and I was just glad I didn't have to sit around airports anymore waiting for any more delayed flights. But right now, I'm fuming mad about my lost bag!!!
I purposely packed my nicest clothes in my carry on, but I still had soo many things I miss right now in my checked in bag!! Like my new LV purse, my coat, my boots, and most of all my nail polishes and make up items, and hair products that cost at least $200 because I'm kind of addicted to those types of things.
And I'm tempted to just go out and buy everything I need because I feel the need to replace everything immediately, but I can't do that because if they find my bag I won't get any reimbursement, I'll just have extra stuff and waste money..
On top of everything I've been on hold with Delta for an hour with no answer. It's soooo frustrating!! This is why I always try to travel with nothing but a carry on bag, but this time I had no choice because I had a three week trip, I couldn't have possibly fit enough things in a small carry on bag

Has this happened to anyone else? Did you receive the right amount of reimbursement you were hoping for or were your bags found?

It could be worse - you could have been without your bags in Bulgaria. It's happened to me a couple of times, and I've always gotten the bags within two or three days, sometimes sooner, brought right to wherever I was staying.

Is your luggage really lost, or just delayed in getting back to you? In my experience, most bags show up eventually.

On another note, I don't blame you one bit for being annoyed, but I'm glad at least that it happened on your way *home*. I know people whose bags were lost en route to a vacation or a business trip, and that is a *serious* drag!

You beat me to it! I knew someone whose bags were lost on the way to her honeymoon - she did not have a lot of good things to say about that experience!

I am glad it didn't happen on my way there, I'm always paranoid of this happening and I'm sooo nervous while I'm waiting at a carousel to recognize my bags, but it had never happened to me before, it had always been something I'd had nightmares about though, lol..

I was just nervous because one of the customs officers said something about it arriving on a later flight, and that's entirely possible since my connecting flight before was sooo late that I had to run to catch the plane to the US and I was the last person to board the plane- the connecting flight landed after the listed boarding time for my next flight so I was lucky I even got on ...
But there have been flights other flights coming in last night and I was hoping my bag would be on there
I just hope they find it within the end of the week...and the fact that I was on hold for an hour and a half and ended up hanging up because I gave up waiting on hold with Delta made me even more upset...

I will just give it more time for now and try to relax I guess

It was probably put on the same flight to the US the next day. That's the way it often works. What's even more fun is when your bag arrives before you do, and somebody just sets it off to the side where anybody could pick it up. That's happened to me twice.

I'm so sorry! There has to be a first time though. Worse than missing luggage is when you're sitting on the plane, looking out the window at YOUR bags in cargo crates being completely soaked in a huge thunderstorm.

I'm sure they'll show up!

Oh dear, I hope you get your luggage back!

That happened to DH. His flight from Vegas to Dallas was late and the Dallas flight left on time. He ended up staying in Dallas overnight and his bag was no where to be found. They finally did find it and sent it to us once he got home, but it took several days.

Because of that, he now has at least one change of clothing and most of his toiletries in his carry-on bag.

OH! I just remembered!
When I went to Costa Rica in college, I didn't know to have a change of clothes in the carry-on. The luggage didn't turn up - and I left in January. So I'm in 80 degree weather with jeans, boots, a turtle neck, my winter coat.... and of course my flight arrived late, so I've nowhere to change any money. THAT was fun.
(The luggage turned up two days later).

I got to the baggage claim one time to find that my luggage was not there, the only thing left on the carousel was set the same color but different style. After spending half an hour filling out forms describing my luggage I came out of the office to find the other luggage gone and mine set off to the side, with the claim tickets torn off. Obviously somebody had grabbed the wrong bags and the airport security who was supposed to be checking claim ticket numbers just ripped the claim ticket off without even looking at it.
Needles to say, I was not happy about getting home really late, even though I had my luggage.

Oh my gosh that sucks!!! I have some of the worst and best luck there is. My luggage has been lost twice and I don't travel that much! To top it all off, both times they were lost was when I got to the place I was visiting, not when I got home! BUT, I got my luggage back both times and got paid for the time I was without my bags. It was pretty sweet, but from then on I've always packed my most prized items in my carry on. Save for one time when I apparently flew with a 12 inch box cutter in my carry on....when we landed and got to my grandparents house my little sister pulled out the box cutter and said "why did you bring this and how did you get past security!" I had put it in there when we were moving and forgot to take it out, but didn't notice it when I was packing, and apparently neither did security. Makes you feel pretty safe huh? I'm sure you'll get your luggage back, if not, you'll always have a nice check to go shopping with!

It has happened to me several times along the years, but it was always returned and never lost. I never had any items stolen or damaged. They have also always delivered either to my home or to the hotels I was staying at. The only exception was when I was in driving from Green Bay to Minneapolis and couldn't wait at the hotel; so I arranged for them to hold it in the airport.
This usually happens when your flight/connection is delayed or canceled and they accommodate you in different flights after the check-in/luggage check. At least that seems be the case with me.
I wouldn't worry about it too much... I am pretty sure it will turn out. Which one of your flights were delayed that resulted in a connection change? Was it the one here in the US, or in there? That is most likely where your luggage got misplaced.

I'm almost nervous to admit this out of fear of jinxing it but on the delta baggage info website it says my bag has been found and will arrive today...
Now I just have to wait and hope it really does arrive!!

My connection flight to Paris was delayed, I landed in Paris 15 minutes before the scheduled take off of the flight to Atlanta, which is wayy past the boarding time. I made there at the last minute though, but my guess is that even though I got on the plane to Atlanta they didn't have enough time to transfer my luggage from one plane to another since I was only in Paris for about 20 or 25 minutes.

That's what frequently happens when you just make your connecting flight, and there was an incredible luggage backlog at French airports for several days because of the snow cancellations and shortage of de-icing fluid.
that you get your stuff today or tomorrow at the latest.
