First off, Chris apologizes for not posting QOTDs last week! Holidays and pain flare-ups - not being helped by this crazy weather. Chris, you feel better!!!!!

Today is my mom's birthday. (Happy birthday mom!) How do you celebrate your mom's birthday?

Happy birthday to your mom!

My mom rarely wants to celebrate her birthday. We celebrated her 50th birthday alongside Rob's mom (they are 3 weeks apart, both in April) by having a joint birthday party at our housewarming. MIL wanted to celebrate my mom's birthday this year, but my mom said "no i dont want to celebrate any non-milestone birthdays"

Last year was Mom's 50th and I told her I wanted to take her out to dinner to celebrate. What she didn't know was that I invited the whole family and they were all there to surprise her.

It's usually a quiet at home thing, we bake her a cake, and put around presents. After blowing out the candles she opens the presents, and then we eat the cake and ice cream.

Happy Birthday, Laurie's mom!

We don't do much to celebrate birthdays for the "older folks" and that includes us, too. A card for my mother is all she really wants. She won't go out for dinner and it's getting to the point where it's too difficult to bring her to our house because we have steps that it's too hard for her to handle. (It usually takes DH and my BIL to get her up the steps....that's what we did at Christmas.)

Sometimes, we'll take DH's mom out to dinner at a restaurant of her choice, although that's usually her Mother's Day celebration. Sometimes, I'll tell her that I will cook everything she wants for dinner for her birthday. She'll often just go along with that and create a menu that I'll honor. One year, everything I made for her dinner was from Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa), another year, everything was from the Neeley's, etc. She loves being able to come down for dinner and to be try those dishes that she might not want to make.

And for my FIL's birthday, I always make a dinner for him as that's the only gift he wants.

My mom died in 1978. To mark her birthdays I go out and have an ice cream cone in her favourite flavour....Maple Walnut! And then sit outside in the sun and think about her.

Not much - Mum has never been big on celebrating her birthday. We usually have a meal and a few presents.

Happy birthday to your mom!! My mom and I aren't close, but we all go out to eat as a family.

I hope your mother has a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

We used to celebrate every birthday with the whole family when I was little. We don't do that anymore. Now we just have our own parties, with our own household members. We celebrate with gifts, cake, ice cream. Lynxx even participated in birthday parties, by jumping up on the table, and running off with the birthday person's piece of cake. I'd say it was a fluke that he knew the birthday person, but he did it every time

My mom passed away in 1996, so we no longer celebrate her birthday. However, while she was still alive, we had a big family gathering and served cheese enchiladas, beans, spanish rice and birthday cake for dessert.

My sister and her DH took my mom and dad out for breakfast. Had candle in a muffin.

We sent cards. That's how we've managed birthdays since all of us left high school.

That's really sweet. And I hope you like her favorite flavor of ice cream! (I think it sounds yummy!)
