I finally got the courage to pick up my baby's ashes today and to settle his vet bill (surgery & hospitalization). Fortunately they didn't charge me for the euthanasia & cremation. They placed him in a beautiful tin. I was shocked at how light it is. He weighed 15 pounds when alive. My children were a little squeamish about seeing what remained of our poor kitty. He's resting on my bureau. George is home again. I didn't think I had any tears left to cry, but found myself fighting them back as I left the vets and letting them flow while I drove home with George on the seat next to me.

Laurie,

I know the heartbreak you are under right now, and even though you don't think it will get better, it does in time. I applaud your vet for not charging for some of the services they rendered. That shows the real touch of empathy and compassion.

The tears will dry up and soon you will be able to remember George with fondness and smiles and you will embrace these memories that made up this special cat in your life.

You have my heart for your loss-
