Our new baby, Sophia was playing with our resident bruiser, Levi and I heard her kitten yelp. She was batting at her mouth, some blood on her paw and when we looked, her Canine tooth (the LONG one) was at an angle.

I know that kittens lose their baby teeth, but this seemed strange, I had to pull it out. It was like what you do for your 5 yr old... She seems fine, no bleeding since, but...

IS THIS NORMAL??

I have had cats FOREVER and never had anything like this happen. Either I have doomed her to have a "snaggle-tooth" Or her big girl tooth should come in soon.

Any advice?? I will be gone Jan 2.. my daughter is performing a half-time show for the Sacramento Kings Basketball game!! YEAHHH but I will get back to you all as soon as we return..

VIBES FOR SOPHIA!!!

Along about 4-6 months, they lose their baby teeth. Normally, the new canine grows in next to the old one, giving them double teeth for a day or two.

However, if your kitten is younger than that, it's possible she snagged the tooth on somthing and broke it. It happens. If she hasn't gotten her permanent teeth yet, it shouldn't really be a problem.

If it was her baby fang, there shouldn't be a problem. Kittens lose their baby teeth like we do.

That's perfectly normal.

That reminds me of how I lost a tooth in 2nd grade. I was out at recess playing on the jungle gym, when i tripped and landed on my mouth. I felt something tear away and I had a bloody mouth. I was so scared, and I spit out a "chunk" in the hallway going to the nurse's office. It turns out my baby tooth had gotten popped out perfectly, and that was what i had spit. As long as it was a baby tooth, it doesn't matter too much how violently it was ripped out. Baby teeth have almost no root going into the gums.

One of the canines was the only baby tooth I was able to find that fell out.

I guess they eat the other ones.

Lucky you, Ducman. What I wouldn't give to have just one of my cat's baby tooth. Sadly, I adopted him when he was 5 mos.
