How do your cats celebrate New Year's Eve?

On New Year's Eve, after we watch the ball come down in Times Square, I'd always grab Lynxx's tail, swing it back and forth, saying "Happy New Year". Lynxx never minded I don't know if I'll do that with Luna or Midnight. I know Luna wouldn't appreciate us swinging her tail back and forth. She'd probably bite me. Midnight might go for it.

Jamie celebrates it behind the sofa till about 1 - 1:30 a.m., when he decides that the mean old fireworks have pretty much stopped for the night.

Your lucky you get fireworks, our town doesn't do fireworks The city we live next to does, you can hear them, but not see them from here.

Our town doesn't put on a show - a lot of the neighbors do. The dog next door is already upset and barking because of the firecrackers (we have a little less than 3 1/2 hours to go).

My cat celebrates New Year's Eve much the same way he celebrates 4th of July: hiding in the attic or under a blanket.

Like jcat's neighbors, my neighborhood sounds like ground zero. Neighbors on both sides love to gather family and friends together for a celebration with loud music and firecrackers -- loud firecrackers.

I think there might be fireworks in town, but technically they're illegal (other than official functions) in NJ. You can hear people blowing them off, off in the distance anyway - but nothing loud enough to bother the kitties. They "celebrate" by sleeping in their usual spots.

You don't wake them up and force them to celebrate?

Well, I think last year WE were asleep!

...but now that they don't free feed and they get a meal at 11:30pm, maybe I'll make them wait an extra half hour and "celebrate" with a meal.

...and Billy's New Year's Resolution is going to be to continue to lose weight and stop being such a little piggy piggy!

You should force them to celebrate with you!

We always made sure Lynxx was part of any of our celebrations. Now we're doing the same with Luna and Midnight. Only it's harder with them, because their kittens, and they don't really like following the rules

Well they do love celebrating Christmas -nothing better than tearing paper and boxes!

We're not exactly planning on doing much to celebrate New Year's. We're promoting peace by having a quiet evening.

Peace and quiet on New Year's Eve? That's something I've never heard of

Give it another couple of decades.

They'll spend the night in bed with us. They'll be eyeing up our food, no doubt!

Is he not feeling good?
That's late for him. Usually he goes to bed around 8- 8:30, and gets up around 4 a.m.. I don't know how he can sleep. We've got another 40 minutes till midnight, and people are already setting off fireworks. The dog next door is howling, and I've got Springsteen playing to drown out the fireworks. Jamie's all upset, so I've got him playing, and he doesn't do that quietly.

That's to bad that your cat is scared. 4th Of July fireworks never bothered Lynxx. I don't know what these 2 will do with fireworks. I know they didn't like thunder all that much.

Mine will sleep right through it.
The fireworks are starting to die out now, so Jamie is out of hiding and the dog has stopped howling.
Mine will likely scrap for prime territory on the warm, movable furniture aka me, with the less hairy ones looking for a way to get under the blanket

Hoshi was watching the neighbor's fireworks, Neko is napping next to us on the couch. Nero is laying around somewhere. Usually I'll kiss all the kitties after my husband, and then let them cuddle with us.

It's 11:22 pm and my girls Mags & Jazz are sleeping, but for the first time in years I will be awake at midnight .

Ours did end up celebrating by eating dinner at midnight!

Maia slept through it......just another day for her
