My cats are the same as yours. If there's any gravy to be licked it's going to be licked dry! Then maybe.. just maybe they will take a bite or two of the rest. I stopped feeding any gravy typed foods and no more problems, everyone has their pate's and they're happy!

Well, I can see there are a lot of gravy lickers and my cat is one too.  I actually found a dog gravy in my discount store the other day and since it was only 97 cents, I bought it.  However, it was beef gravy and my cat does not like anything but fish gravy from wet food.  He doesn't even like chicken, fresh or canned.  I am not going to make homemade fish gravy for him.  And, since no one has offered a product that can be purchased, I guess I'll write emails to Purina and others to request that they make and sell.  The dog gravy I bought said it had vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants in it.  He gets his good nourishment from a quality dry food, the only food he will eat.  If anyone finds a fish gravy for cats that can be purchased, please let me know.  THX

Friskies makes Tasty Treasures. I feed a lot of finicky cats both strays and my own. This is the  number one food they like the best. The flavors are:

Ocean fish and tuna in sauce, chicken and tuna in gravy, turkey in gravy and chicken in gravy, and they all have cheese as well.

Hope this helps.

I am glad i am not alone. Bandit is my third cat that i rescued in october 2014. He loves gravey but will not eat the meat. He doesn't like pate or tasty treasures because of the cheese. He will eat anything dry almost but is my only cat that wants canned. I end up wasting a lot that i really can't afford to. I debated on just buying a jar of human gravy and he liked it warmed but then i read its too high in sodium to feed often. The liquify idea sounds interesting so i might try that. Thank you for all your posts. Some excellent suggestions as well as comfort that i am not alone.

My cats both demand that they have their 'gravy' in the mornings, but I an lucky in that the meat that they leave I can give to my ferals. Don't ever tell them there is supposed to be gravy on it!!!

I used to use a mini-processor to puree certain foods for our previous cat: even some foods with actual shreds of real meat pureed well, though others did not. Weruva's Cats in the Kitchen Fowl Ball, for example, pureed nicely, but Weruva's Steak Frites made a mess.

Haha di and bob. My lips are sealed. I will
Watch to see if there some strays currently about and give them the meat rather than toss it. I so hate to see a starving cat. Haven't seen any but now with thr snow i might see tracks of some i am missing. Thank you LisaHe
Don't have that brand here or would try it.

I understand. My oldest was switched to canned food last year and I had a heck of a time finding out what she liked. As it turns out, she only likes shredded chicken style foods. Chunks, rectangles, pate, etc. are not going to be eaten but she will lick up most of the sauce it's in. Good thing my youngest kitty is like a garbage disposal and she'll eat anything so she gets the "leftovers".  Thankfully, they're starting to be more descriptive on the cans and some even have a picture of what the food actually looks like.

Good luck with your little one!

Just add water to a Pate and make it soupy
I also have a gravy licker.  So, in the morning I let him have his "treat" while the other cats are eating their pate with water mixed in.  Then when he gets done slurping up the gravey he moves on to the pate.

Thank you ravyn and keyes. I so appreciate all your input! It's so nice to see what works for others. I named my third cat bandit because he stole my heart. I normally just take females, but he was too sweet to turn away and I haven't regretted it since. Thank you ravyn for wishing me luck. I wish you the best as well.

My cats will only eat the gravy off the Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers. The rest is wasted. Feeding three indoor cats, three outside kitties. Plus the youngest indoor cat is on Hills ZD + Stage 2 chicken/gravy. On meds for a stomach disorder. So this is the only diet that so far works for her. All in all ,it gets costly with the food, litter ,vet visits etc. If Purina would make a jar of gravy to put over the dry,it would so simplify matters.

Tippy likes the FF gravy lovers also but before he gets it I add water to it so it's a little bit soupy.

I tried that, but they seemed to sense that it was a little watered down. I only added a little. It is maddening.. The outside kitty is getting their rejects and has gained 20#.

They sure can! That outside cat needs that for winter if you are having one like us. Speakening of maddening i got the new snacky mouse from temptations. Showed them how to bat it to get a treat, all played stupid and left it. Was gone for 3 hours came home to find the top in one place and the mouse nearby, not a treat inside!!! It took me awile to figure out how to fill it. I am still laughing and scratching my head. And i was the one with instructions too! Lol

When the weather begins warming up a little ,I'll begin to switch her to a little less food. I'm giving her a small can of Fancy Feast in the mornings and a little later 1/3 cup of dry food. I do the same thing at night. She has been sleeping inside during the cold days in my husband's shop. I bought her one of the really nice outdoor cat ,insulated houses. She won't go near it. It's been on the patio for over two months now.(A crazed squirell uses it to lounge in and eat pecans!)

So instead bought one of those oblong, plastic containers with a lid,cut a round hole in it ,large enough for her to go in and out, insulated the sides with a thick blanket. At night I heat up a round gel thingy (snuggle cat,I think it's called)Then insert it between the blanket and her. So it keeps her warm for several hours. She is the sweetest ,most affectionate cat,I have ever seen. We have three indoor cats ,who do not want her inside. We have a small home, less than 1000 ft. So it would be a war zone if she moved inside.

I've been enjoying this interesting discussion for a few days and just joined up. My cat had been on a dry diet and all was fine until he got an intestinal inflammation and the vet said to switch him to wet.  It's been a long journey partly because he's been used to nibbling all day, and also because he doesn't seem to like the canned food.   What drives me crazy is when he likes a food one day and won't touch it the next.  For a while he liked FF gravy lovers, or at least he liked the gravy, and then after a week or so, he lost interest.  He begs for food and I open can after can until he eats a little of something.   And like many of you, I throw out so much food.  So it's good to know I have company.
