Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Yes our cat of 16 only licks the gravy and leaves all the meat so we thought liquidise the whole pouch and it works! now she licks/eats it all. We found out she lost a lot of teeth and probably got some dental pain we rescued her from a centre.

That's exactly what we did - just turn it all into "gravy." :lol3: We would buy the pate food, put it in one of those $12 chopper/blender thingies, add a little water, and voila! It's all gravy. Worked like a charm. :D

at first I thought I was the only one who had this problem, I have 2 owners whiskers and ms. kitty ,every time I get up whiskers runs to the fridge and sits in front of the door I have to give her some yogurt or vanilla ice cream  she likes a little milk also. Ms. kitty cat isn't so demanding she"ll have some temptations snacks they both  will eat fancy feast gravy then I get to throw away the morsels, yes they have us by the ...wallets .  They just look nso cute you just can't help but doing what ever they want or suffer the guilty stares when they purr you know they are just happy and you did something right.    the cats pet henry

That gravy is very high in carbohydrates. Try the blender trick LDG uses.  They need more protein than the gravy provides.

My two house kitties meow and fuss every AM until they get their canned food (only chunky with gravy, they insist) then sit there and lick all the gravy off.
Then I take it out to the wild ones and they finish it off, those poor things have never known about the gravy!

My 3 year old "cow cat",Kitty Man,just recently started being so finicky. He has lost 1 1/2 pounds over a three month period. He'll eat approx 1/4 cup of Purina Cat Chow daily and lick the gravy off 9 lives beef and gravy, leaving the chunks. Took him to the vet twice in the past two months,as recently as this aft. He doesn't act ill. Everything checks out fine.He did blood work and checked his teeth also during the physical.. Hoping he is OK in blood work results also. I have tried all kinds of cat food. From Blue Buffalo ,Whis\kas to Natural Balance to Purina Cat Chow ,with others in between. Pulling my hair out trying to get enough nourishment into him. Gave him a TBSP of beef baby food this aft,at urging from vet. He loved it and threw it up (first time for vomiting -ever) Also tried Nutri-CAl for cats. He hates it. Any suggestions, much appreciated.

Maybe try putting a can of wet food in the blender, or if you have some pate-type foods mash up the pate with the back of a spoon mixed with a bit of water.

I have been on Amazon checking out a gravy supplement called "Super Gravy" for cats and dogs. Has anyone tried this?

My guy is about 7-8 months old and doesn't favor wet food as much as dry food. I have him on a grain-free dry food, but just to get some moisture content, I give him whatever wet food he'll eat, which happens to be Whiskas Entrees.

I've tried Blue Buffalo, Merrick, Newman's Own, B.F.F., Weruva, NutroMaxx, Friskies, Fancy Feast, Taste of the Wild... LITERALLY every brand out there.

I've learned a few things about his taste... he will ONLY eat pate textured food, because anything that is in a gravy/sauce... he will only lick up the gravy and leave whatever chunks were suspended it.

I can't for the life of me figure it out! Anyone else experience this? I look like a moron in the stores shaking a can of each variety of each brand just to see if it has sauce or if it's solid, lol.
Yep! I have 2 that will just lick gravy but it's only the minced morsel type foods they will do this with. The chunks in gravy, no problem. They'll eat all of it. The pate' and the new Natural Choice "Soft Loaf" varieties they just love and will eat all of it. But the minced morsels and some, not all, of the sliced textures they will only eat the gravy. I don't buy them anymore. I don't allow gravy licking around here LOL :lol3:

I tried that ,with no success. HIs blood work came back free from any problems. Had planned to have X_rays done. But Uncle Sam cleaned me out today @ tax time! Meanwhile he is still licking the gravy, eating his Friskies treats and fighting with Lulu (our little Persian mix).HIs energy level seems a little improved Trying to spend more quality time with him. I think he feels a little jealous of Lulu..

I sent an e-mail to Friskies ,asking if they would consider marketing just small cans of gravy ,to add to their can food and dry mix. Yeah,s--u--r--e they will...
.They had no plans to. I reminded them of all of us "shakers" ,trying to please our furry children and not having a great deal of luck. ....They thanked me and probably wrote me off as a "crazy cat lady!"

Our new cat, Pumpkin Seed, is a juice licker.  We were wasting sooooo much food.  Yesterday I went out and bought a single-serve blender and liquified a can of Friskies Shreded Chicken in gravy.  She lapped it up like it was mother's milk.  Problem solved.

Yep, gravy lover here... but she's the opposite, she doesn't like the pates and prefers the fishy flavored shreds or chunks. But the catch is that I have to cut up all the shreds/chunks into even smaller bite sized pieces for her. It's kind of ridiculous. I want to try the blender thing now, I wonder if that would work better? But on the other hand, yuck, I'm not sure I want to do that to my blender!!

Hamilton Beach has a small belender similar to "The Bullet" that I've dedicated to the cat's food.  You can blend several cans at one time, pour out some, then put the lid on and put it in the fridge.

I have a Magic Bullet blender somewhere in the cupboard that I never use so I'm thinking of trying this out... Do you add anything special to the food like water or anything? Or do you just put it in and turn the blender on? Also, is it okay for them to eat (drink, I guess?) their food in a more liquid form like that? I'm thinking this may actually work because she loves to lick the gravy off whatever food I give her, but never actually eats the solid portion...

Our cats are now turning up their noses at the blended food, (go figure) so today I tried getting a jar of turkey gravy and giving our finicky cat some in a dish.  She lapped that up.  (I hope that lasts).  I wonder about blending some food mixed with some jarred "people-gravy."  Maybe that will work more than just a couple of days.
