On occasion a little stray cat shows up at my back door. When she does, I feed her. She came for the first time in quite a while yesterday and she was obviously injured although I am not sure how or when it happened. One of her eyes is milky white & I can tell she is not able to see out of it. Her face is also a little scratched up. I need any advise on how I can go about getting her into a carrier without her panicking so I can get her to the vet & any advise on how I can keep her as comfortable as possible in the meantime would be great. I think she might have been someone's pet at one time because she will let me get close to her but not touch her.
I have been giving her some cat antibiotics & medication for swelling and pain in her food that I had left over from a trip to the vet a while back. Please let me know what ideas you have for her. I really just want to to the best thing for her and need advise on that. I really don't want to have to get the humane society to humanly trap & care for her because I don't want her to end up in a shelter if I can help it. Thank you in advance.

If she is really skittish, you may have to trap her with a humane trap, or else it may be impossible. I do hope you catch her ASAP, milky eye means infection or detached retina usually, and she can lose her life if the eye completely dies due to an infection.

Can you call a rescue organization in your area? They can help you trap her and then you can get her to the vet.

I hope it works out. Bless you for caring for her.

Hi Robin,
I just called the humane society & they said they do not provide help with humane trapping, but I hadn't thought about contacting privately owned cat rescue organizations. That's a really good idea! Me & my husband are working on getting help/info from them now.
Thank you,
Courtney

Maybe if you called your vet and told them what's going on. They can suggestion someone that would be able to help you catch her?

Try calling your vet and see if he knows anyone with a humane trap. My vet refers people to me if they need one and I am always more than happy to lend it out.

Good luck with the little one.

Depending on where you are, you can also try feed stores. Many have traps that you can rent.

I hope it is going well, poor baby.. It is too cold (at least here) for any stray, especially a sick one..

Bless you and your husband for not turning away!!

Good luck
