My little buddy's borrowed time came to an end a couple of days ago, found him lying between two bales yesterday. He lived on borrowed time from kittenhood - was ill often and I spent hours nursing him. He survived several illnesses that left him with laryngeal paralysis and the inherent problems, so his time was limited. I suspect he aspirated food or water because his larynx wouldn't close.
He was a character - rode in vehicles, would come for a ride almost any time, just like his dad does. He was incredibly bonded to me, and would follow me slowly around the yard as he couldn't go fast because of his breathing problems (he was checked but was told to let him live his life as surgery was riskier than life). I am going to miss the assorted strange noises he made, from the raspy breathing when he would run a short ways to the odd cooing sound he made when he purred. I feel more sorry for his brother Tippy than I do for myself, as I knew it was inevitable and did the best I could to keep him happy for whatever time he had with me.
Rest in peace. Treaker, will always remember you
