It's the middle of winter and I'm sweating buckets! I feel like putting my air conditioner back in!

I don't know if it's because it's hot in my apartment, or if I have a temperature. I've been home sick with the flu since Friday and have been loading up on cold/flu drugs which mask the fever because of the Tylenol in them. All I know is I feel like I'm inside a sauna one minute and an igloo the next!

Off to have a hot shower and gradually cool the water until I'm sitting under a cold shower.

I hate that when I have a fever, especially if it's in the warmer weather, and opening a window won't help.

I talked to my brother this evening, or rather tried to. Between sneezing and fits of coughing, it wasn't much of a conversation.

When I cough I nearly pass out, so I'm making sure that I am sitting most of the time, or near a chair when I need to be standing. And I've been trying to make sure that I'm keeping hydrated. I'm drinking tons of fluids/soup broth, but I'm losing most of it through sweating. I'm not going to the bathroom as much as I normally would with the amount of fluids I've been drinking and my urine is still an ok colour, so I'm not dehydrated. But I'll have to step up the fluid intake just the same.

I held off taking anything for the flu symptoms so I could see what my temperature is. It's 38.8 degrees Celsius (almost 102 F)

Off to sit in a cool shower and then to bed. I called in sick for tomorrow.

This is a really nasty bug!!

It really sounds nasty and like it "got you good" this year. Hope you feel better soon! Just out of curiosity, did you get a flu shot this year? I haven't heard anything about its effectiveness this flu season.

Yes!! But there are other flu strains that it doesn't cover.

I am glad your fever broke. My 7 year old just went through a simular virus. She ran a temp of 104 for 5 days. The Doctor told me to give her tylenol and advil every four hour. Cold compress nothing would bring it down. Her nighgown and hair were soaked day and night. The fever borke Christmas eve. She still has a nasty cough, The virus triggered her asthma. Thankfully no one else has come down with it. I hope you can get lots of rest and get some fluids in you.

Sounds like what hit me! I'm glad she is feeling better!!!

I'm coughing till I nearly pass out/throw up. And every muscle in my body is aching. Even my gums ache!

I also have asthma. I've stepped up my steroid inhaler because I want to avoid having to go on oral prednisone. But I'm thinking that if my asthma hasn't shown any improvement by Friday, I'm off to the doctor to seek oral prednisone.

Raina's cough was the same way. Her sides her so much she would cry when she sat up. It really is a miserable virus. My Doctor said it was the flu, not one that was in this years shot. Raina was put on prednisone and antibiotics, She had an urinary tract infection on top of the flu.

I had a real mild flu last month but the cough hung on for another month. I hate coughing so much one has the dry heaves. Is the humidity level okay at your apartment?

I, as well, have been sick. Went to the doctor on Monday and was diagnosed with a sinus infection. Got hot and sweaty just doing something small like walking across the room.

Two days later, I am just coming round. I am on Augmentin and Mucinex. I kept a hot pack on my eyes and forehead. I couldn't even talk without coughing.

So lets hope we all are getting better!! Man what a bug!

I went to the doctor today because I wasn't feeling any better. In fact, my fever returned but not nearly as bad as it had been.

No infection. My lungs are clear. He increased my Atrovent puffer from 2 puffs every 6 hours to 4 puffs every 4 hours, and I'm to continue taking my Ventolin regularly every 4 hours and as much as I need in between. And I'm also to continue with my steroid inhaler.

He is also recovering from this nasty flu! He said the cough will be hanging around for several weeks, but the shortness of breath and the rest will improve in a matter of "days."

Oh, and he gave me a prescription for Codeine to help suppress my cough. Plus it will help with the rib pain that I have from so much coughing.

Well, if you're up to it, unless the codeine makes you pass out (which it always does me), even "tipsy" you can play some of the word games here.
(We're still pretty far away from helping a shelter win $100 in the 3M post contest).
