I could take some FeLV negative vibes. I know deep down in my heart he is still going to be positive but I just have to know. Nuts needs a friend. I am going to kill him if he doesn't quit wanting me to play 24/7, he needs someone to play with. My arms hurt from a never ending game of fetch.

So I could use some vibes. This is his yearly check up(thus why it's being done now) so he is also getting his vaccinations and a full check. I know he has to have his rabies shot and I'll talk to them about the other vaccine(s).

He is just so healthy and I am, trying so hard not to get my hopes up(but I obviously have hope otherwise I wouldn't have the test done) because I know chances are he is still positive. I just want a normal healthy kitty that will live a long happy healthy life and die of old age.

Please wish me luck.

He's still positive.

So much for getting another cat, Paul refuses to get another 'dying' cat.

As I said before I expected the test to be positive but I was hoping so much it wouldn't be.

His visit went well though, he's 12 lbs and is in perfect health. He did get some depo since he's been scratching a lot since Attitude passed, he's managed to cut himself twice with his claws due to the scratching over the past 2 months. Neither was serious, just a scratch, one I didn't even notice until I was petting him and it seemed to be healing just fine. The vet checked and he doesn't have fleas(which we had already told him), he doesn't have ear mites, which is good. He get his rabies and distemper vaccine and is doing fine. He isn't playing like he normally does but if I know that has to do with the vaccines. He's the exact opposite of Attitude when it comes to health, he's never been sick.

This whole FeLV thing is so confusing, they were from the same litter, had the same environment, literally everything was the same, yet one thrives and the other doesn't even make it to 18 months old. How it can affect 2 cats so differently is just weird, but it's the same with both FIV and humans AIDS, one cat/ person can be fine and another is always sick and dies quickly.

Frustrating disease and so unfair as well. I wish they could find a cure.

Just didn't want this to be a downer, Nuts is healthy, he's happy and he's 12 lbs of pure muscle. I was just a little sad when they said he was still positive, it doesn't change anything he's still the same healthy happy cat he's always been.

Also, Paul relented, I can get another cat, but that is a different post for a different area.

I'm sorry this test was positive, too. Lots of that Nuts continues to be healthy for as long as possible.

Thank you all.

I'm hoping the same. Attitude was never really in perfect health, she also had herpes which caused a never ending eye infection and I guess it eventually moved down into her nose(causing unilateral bloody noses) and lungs; she had 2 severe URIs, the second is what finally did her in. Nuts doesn't appear to have herpes and has never been sick yet so I'm hopeful he has a long happy healthy life ahead of him. Even if he only makes it to 5 - 10 years old(obviously I'd love 15- 20+ years) it will be worth it all. Even Attitude, who only lived 16 months was well worth it for the love we got from her and what she brought into our life. I know there are plenty of cats who never live that long and were 'healthy'(Maude was around 10-12 years old and there wasn't a single thing wrong until her liver failed, she was FeLV negative when she died.)

I am thankful everyday that he is so healthy. I've seen the other side of the coin and I wouldn't wish that on my worse enemy, or their cat, for that matter.
