So my dumpster kitty(we rescued her from a life in a dumpster), Baby is going to the vet again tomorrow morning. I am so aggravated with her you have no idea. I'm tired of the pee all around my house. Of course I love her to death, but its just getting to be too much. She will not pee in a litter box. I offered different kinds (covered and uncovered) also in different locations, tried cat attract litter ....worked great for the others, just not her, feliaway plugins, phermone collars .....I am at my wits end. She pees on the kitchen counters, in my tub (which I wouldnt mind if she did it only in there), on plastic bags, on laundry, on pillows, in the dogs crate, on my rugs, on the kitchen floor. I've been dealing with this problem for quite a while now. We've gone to the vets (or at least a urine sample has) and one time her sample was fine. Another time she did have a UTI. She was treated and all cleared. SO I dunno if she has yet another one???/ But the peeing around the house has never once ceased. She was on special food but that did no good. I am just very very stressed about this. I don't even know how I am going to get a urine sample
Considering she won't go in a box.......and if I'm lucky enough to find a fresh sample (on the counter or in a bag) it would be contaminated anyway and not knowing how long it was there.....She is awful at the vets. They won't be able to get a sample unless they sedate her. She screams and bites otherwise. I have the day off from work tomorrow.....so maybe if I leave her there they can somehow get one. I guess I'm just venting. I hope they find something and can give me a solution to this problem. I have a feeling they won't though.........This cat has always had an attitude and does what she wants. She has also been spraying her anal glands and has done that from time to time since we've had her.....so I dunno if thats normal for a cat to do??? ANd yes she is spayed.
I just don't have the energy to do this anymore....let alone the funds. I guess I just really need some encouragement.

You might want to try crating her. Get a dog crate that is just barely big enough for a litterbox, food bowl, water bowl, and a blanket to sleep on. If she pees on the blanket, remove it and move everything in the crate so it's a little more cramped. She will start using the litterbox because if she doesn't, she'll be peeing where she sleeps. You will have to keep her crated for probably a couple weeks, until she is peeing in the box 100% of the time, then you can let her out into one room, and see if she keeps up the good behavior. Then start giving her more and more free space until she has the whole house and is still not peeing. If she pees on the floor once, she has to start from scratch in the crate. It sounds harsh, but cats like small spaces and it's one of the most sure-fire ways to curb this behavior.

Not without taking her to the vet for a urinalysis first. She already had an UTI, and she can be going through another one now.
To the OP: You said she "was" on a special food - was that prescribed by the vet? Was the vet OK with you stopping it? Did she have an UTI or Crystals? Crystals are often chronic, and more often than not will return if not managed with diet. UTIs can be flared with stressful situations as well.
How are you cleaning these spots? Are you using a good enzyme cleaner?
How many boxes do you have and where are they located?

Well, yeah, I was kind of taking that as a given. Plus, I always assume the person below me is going to say "take your cat to the vet" (I have never once been proven wrong on this
) so I usually try to give people advice for if they get back from the vet and discover it's NOT medical.

And it was mentioned that the vet WILL be visited

Well the vet was able to get a sterile urine sample from her YAY. They did an ultrasound also to rule out anything (tumors, stones etc) in her bladder and that came out clean. The vet is sending her urine sample out for a culture which should take a week or so and I should hear from them tomorrow regarding the regular urinalysis.

The vet mentioned that if we don't find anything medically wrong then we have to investigate medications for behavioral problems. I'm a bit nervous about this......but at this point I may have to consider it. I've exhausted all other possibilities (besides the crate idea- thanks for that idea).
