I pleaded, I whined, I stomped my feet and I got it.

Verizon mobile broadband. Going to cancel my longtime dial up provider.

However I have to go through email and change a bunch of email addresses to gmail for all the stores that have my email address (can't miss out on sale info
).

Time to join the 21st century..............

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
We live in an area where sometimes reception isn't so good (we're using a Verizon USB thingy too), but it still beats the heck out of dial-up! ENJOY!

Yay!!!

I got my first computer in March 2000 and it came with 6 months free dial up. I last 3 weeks before I got DSL! Actually, I think I called to order it less than a week of using dial up! I think I had to wait 3 weeks for it to be installed.

You'll love high speed cable!!

I finally was able to get wireless last summer, still not like DSL, cable, whatever but when you live in the boonies, you take what you can get. Oddly, I have fibre optics phone line, along with dozens of other things in that line like designated data lines, but it is not compatable with the new, lower tech fibre optic installations; this stuff has been here for years, was the testing ground for it.

Congratulations! You don't actually have to switch your email. Set up your Gmail account, then go to settings and import and enter your other email addresses and passwords. Gmail will pick up your emails from those accounts and even allow you to send them under those addresses. It's really easy to set up.
ETA: That's on condition that your old ISP lets you keep your email addy. Some, like AOL, do.

Thanks for the email tip. As Verizon mobile broadband doesn't have the capability to set an email address.

Its great so far I haven't tried out on desktop yet as that has XP and I need to make sure it has SP3 on it. I went to the Cirqe de Soleil website and actually got to watch the trailer for their new production (we have tickets) and watched it right away vs waitng 40 minutes for dial up to load 28 seconds!

I'll have to take some more photos of the cats and load them here!!

Kudos to no more dial-up! We had it for years and I would get so tired of dealing with all the long waits and waits and waits and.........We finally got cable internet about four years ago.

You'll be spoiled in no time.

After a few hours of messing around, a useless call and stop in at Verizon wireless I got it installed and working on our desktop too. Good thing I had some wine to drink!

Where I live its the cable company's internet service or wireless. My cellphone provider's wireless service was spotty at best where I live. However if one travels a mere 2 miles south of me one has more options.
