Walter decided out of the blue today that he wanted to come out of the bathroom! YAY!! He still uses it as "safeties" when he gets spooked (he's very skittish) but for the most part he has been out of the bathroom ever since I let them out this morning!
I got a couple pictures of him and Thomas this morning. I think Walter is going to end up a medium haired cat with a somewhat plume like tail. His fur is longer and much softer than Thomas', and it's funny b/c the white hair is long but the tabby part is short.

Does anyone know why his eyes reflect blue rather than yellow like most cats??

Walter

They all love the tissue paper, so there is tons of it in the kitchen. haha

Thomas

They are SUPER skinny (esp Walter), but I'm not sure if that is normal for that age. I've been letting them have free access to food just in case, to plump them up some. lol

Such a handsome boy! They often do get skinny when they go through a growth spurt, but that's also why kitties need higher protein food!

As to the light reflecting blue - I think it just depends on lighting. In fact - I think all of our kitties eyes reflect blue in the photos like that.

That's weird about the eye reflecting. I've only ever heard green/yellow or red as the relfected colors.

Walter looks so much better already!!! I have no idea about the eyes--spooky.

They do look lean, but they also seem to have a fine bone structure. You shouldn't need to free feed for long as it can be a habit that's hard to break.

Glad you all seem to be enjoying the boys so much!!!

Yeah, any cat I've ever taken a picture of has reflected yellow in its eyes. Thomas' eyes are reflecting yellow in all of his pictures, and they were both in the same room. Since Walters are are acting funny (red, weepy), I wasn't sure if it meant there was something wrong.

You might want to get his eye checked out at the vet. The last thread about a cat reflecting different colors mentioned that problems with the eye can cause the reflected color to change. If both his eyes are the same color normally, I would bring him to the vet and meniton that. Especially if there are other symptoms of an eye problem.

He does look better, doesn't he? He's changed so much in the 3 days he's been here. We definitely all love them very much already!
All three of our cats have completely different personalities, which is great. They are all MAJOR talkers, which is funny. Our house will never be quiet again. haha

The picture looks like many of ours. If you have OTHER reason to be concerned about his eyes, by all means, take him to the vet! But I looked it up, and posted about the issue of reflection color here: Reflecting eye thread

The eye-reflecting color can be just about any color, and has to do with the angle of the picture and the light being captured in the photo that is being reflected.

...and I forgot to say that Thomas is absolutely adorable too!

This picture is blurry and dark, but this is him also in a different room (different lighting) at a different angle, and they are still blue. *shrug* I think I"ll talk to his foster mom and see about getting him in to the vet, just in case. His eye still has some discharge, though just a tiny bit. I've started him on Lysine, just in case.
(Please excuse the garbage bag in the background...full of wrapping paper and packaging from gifts.)

Walter is cute
I don't know why cats eyes come out different colors at different times. I noticed that with
Lynxx
his eyes glowed yellow, an awesome green, and orange. Midnight's eyes will sometimes come out glowing blue in pictures. Luna's today came out glowing green.

If you're concerned about the drainage from his eyes, certainly take him to the vet. However, I don't think the color of the reflection has anything to do with health, just the lighting conditions and angle of the camera and flash. You can always ask the vet when you take him for something else,

Okay, I'll just assume he has really cool eyes!
I love the color that they reflect, it's very pretty.

Hooray for Walter!! Big strides for that little man in a short period of time. So glad he's feeling more comfortable in his new home. He even looks more confident! You're doing a great job with them.

How's Nora doing with the boys?

Thanks!!

She's not thrilled in the slightest. *sigh* She doesn't take well to seeing them in person, so we have decided to keep them from seeing each other for at least a week or two and we are swapping who gets to be out in the house. She even freaks out and attacks their paws if they stick them under the bathroom door. Hopefully after a week or two we can try introducing them again and it will go better. *fingers crossed*

Just a quick thought on the intro... our Spooky takes a full six months to stop freaking and hissing at any new kitty, male or female, and a full year to completely accept them as part of the clowder. Scent swapping and helping her associate the boys with "good" things is important and SHOULD help... but just be prepared for the idea that it may be a while before she's "good" with sharing her territory with them!

What color are his eyes when they're not reflecting blue?
