Microsoft warns on IE browser bug

Quote:
Microsoft has issued a warning about a serious vulnerability in all versions of its Internet Explorer (IE) browser.
If exploited by a booby-trapped webpage the bug would allow attackers to take control of an unprotected computer.
...
In a statement Microsoft said it was "investigating" the bug and working on a permanent fix. In the meantime it recommended those concerned use a protection system known as the Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit.
Installing and applying the toolkit may require Windows XP users to update the version of the operating system they are using. But even if they do that some of the protection it bestows on Windows 7 and Vista users will not be available.

IE is so sluggish and risky that I'm surprised there are people still using it. There are so many good alternatives nowadays.

I used to be a Firefox fan but now I wouldn't give my Chrome up for anything!

What other choices are there besides Chrome? I'm gonna compile a list for myself. I rely on TCS for this kind of info!

P.S. I use Internet Explorer, and while in some aspects, I am tech-savy, truth be told, I'm very very non-tech-savy by 2010 standards. Heck, even for 2003 standards Hate to admit it but it's true. I like what computers can do but let's just say if my laptop were a house, it'd be a filthy, untidy house. I hate to do maintenance-y stuff and nuts-and-bolts stuff.

There's Opera, Mozilla Firefox and Safari, among others. If you google "Internet browsers" you'll find all sorts of comparisons and critiques.

I've been very happy over the years with Firefox, but I've never liked IE.
