I was sitting in my friend's apartment and we were exchanging gifts when a furry visitor came up on the roof and raided the bird feeder. He had quite the Christmas feast! Her cats thought the squirrel's visit was a great Christmas present and they sat and stared at him through the window.

Here's our little visitor raiding the bird feeder. They're quite adept at knocking the lid off to get at the seed inside.

A closer view.

Pinky was the first to investigate.

I made a noise and got their attention. Instead of running away, the squirrel actually put his front paws on the window sill and scolded me.

Oscar jumped up to investigate.

Totally focused on the squirrel

Group photo. Everybody smile!

Buddy poked his head up to take a look.

Odd, I have the strangest feeling that I'm being watched.

Having filled his belly, the squirrel heads back to his tree. He sat there for about 10 minutes before he left. We think he was just so full he had to let his food settle before he could jump back.

I think rather than thinking he's being watched, that squirrel is saying, "Neener, Neener!"

Yeah, that squirrel absolutely knew that he was protected by the pane of glass. Even when I came up to the window, his attitude wasn't fear, but rather "hey, why the heck are you disturbing my meal."

Lol at the scolding squirrel. I encountered a scoldy squirrel 5 years ago. It scolded Penny from a high area, and then had a Mexican standoff with her! I was impressed. A squirrel version of Penny - Lots of attitude. And no window for protection either!
