Why do these things happen on weekends and holidays?!?

Callie, my 14 year old, hasn't been eating much or drinking much since yesterday. She wants to eat and does eat a little bit, but not much. She pooped yesterday and she peed, but there was nothing in the litter box this morning. A few days ago she was sneezy, but has been fine since, and her appetite has been good up til sometime yesterday. She wasn't dehydrated when I did the pinch test this morning. I'm thinking it's either a mouth ulcer, URI, or UTI. At least, I hope that's all it is.

I'm at work, so my husband will be taking her in. I'm stressed to the max not being there with her. She's my baby and my heart kitty.

It always seems to happen when the vets are usually closed. Lots and lots of that Callie will be fine!

I hear ya! This is my second Christmas with a sick cat, and before that, we had an Easter sick kitty. It's like they know.

that the problem is minor and Callie is able to come straight home and spend Christmas was your family!

Oh NO! Poor Callie, poor YOU.

I hope they find the problem quickly and she's soon on the mend. And yes, weekends, holidays, or in our case, 30 minutes after the office closes, are the times our pets have issues.

It is just a rule of nature.....things go crazy on holidays!

I hope it is minor. You have caught it quick so that is a plus. Thank goodnesss for your husband.

Sending for Callie and you!

She's home! The vet couldn't find anything wrong with her...no cysts, no mouth ulcers, no temp, no hardness in tummy, bladder, or intestines. The vet doesn't think she's got any type of infection since Callie had no temp. Since she's got kidney problems, she really checked the bladder and it's nice and soft, but this could be related to her kidney/CRF issues. She got some fluids and a shot to help with nausea and something else. (The husband took her and he's not the best with details!)

The vet mentioned that this could be stress related with the holidays and the upset to our regular schedule and routine. I had thought about that, but our schedule isn't all that different, but I guess it's enough that Callie picked up on it. Things have also been stressful for us personally with Mark not feeling well, the truck getting stolen, and my grandmother dying. I've also not been feeling great.

So, we're to try to get her to eat and drink by getting some baby food (whole meal, which I thought was totally strange) to entice her and to spend lots of time doting on her and loving on her. We also have to report back to the vet next week for a follow up. Of course, if she continues to not eat or drink, then we'll go to the ER vet over the weekend if needed.

Upon getting home and getting out of the carrier, she asked for food! Hooray! She ate about half of her wet food from breakfast and some dry food as well.

for Callie. I think she's a CRF kitty, right? Hopefully it's nothing. They go thru "spells" of not eating...at least mine does. Must be that time of year, because Sven's going thru one right now too! I think Otto hit the nail on the head when she said whoever said pets are supposed to lower our blood pressure obviously didn't have any pets to worry over

Maybe she's sick of smelling Tumble's stinky bum, too! That'd kill my appetite!
Not to mention the Christmas tree dismantling!

Seriously, tho, pets are little barometers. My Ziggy had pee issues when I was going through chemo and now both of my dogs are trash can diggers. They will let you know what's on their minds one way or another.

Merry Christmas!

So glad Callie checked out good. I hope she'll be a good cooperative kitty and let you have a nice calm Christmas weekend.

Yes, Callie's my CRF kitty. She ate very well for me when I got home for work, but she's still a bit woozy. I think that's from the shot she got today. Still haven't seen her drink anything and I'm not sure if she's been to the litter box. We did have a nice nap together after I got home from work, though, and she just purred and purred while I was petting her.
