Fuzzy Whiskers.

Our mission is to help with the feral cat population in my city. Also if we can raise funds to help people who cannot afford their spays/neuters of their cats. We will depend upon generosity of others. I am looking into get a non profit status. I plan on setting up an account with the local SPCA to have money in a Fuzzy Whiskers Spay/Neuter Fund. I will be setting up a webpage. Also will be buying traps to loan out with a refundable fee of $15. We are NOT a rescue.

How does that sound for a Mission Statement?

I will be looking for local volunteers to help with the transporting of the ferals to the clinics and to help low income individuals/elderly who have no vehicle get their cats to the clinics as well.

i will post the website as soon as it is done and up and running. any advice would be wonderful.

my whole goal is to help with the cat problem in cayuga county. because that is what it is a problem. it hurts me to see these beautiful creatures out in the cold. once we are up and running i would also be willing to purchase housing for the strays too.

We also have an EIN number as well to open a business account at a bank. I also am friends with a few accountants and my mom works for an attorney who will help me get this set up all legally.

good luck with everything!

and as a reminder:

5. Solicitations – TheCatSite.com does not encourage or promote solicitation of money from our members. We will help in every way possible with our knowledge and support, but as many of us have multi-cat households and work with local rescue groups, monetary support is not always possible to causes or people we do not personally know. Members are allowed one posting in the SOS forum for each organization. Repeated postings for the same cause or organization will be deleted.

The needs of rescue workers are great and we recognize this fact. To care for multiple cats, find suitable homes, good vet care, food, etc. is costly. From time to time you will see some posts come up to ask for donations for a cause. It is YOUR responsibility to check out these solicitors to the best of your ability. More often, you will see pleas from individuals asking for money to be sent directly to them to assist with veterinary bills. Some come up with slick websites, others just have heartwrenching stories. In each of these cases, the poster is allowed ONE thread, to be placed in Cats SOS.

In either case, if you feel compelled to donate money ask for references, phone numbers, call around the area and find out if this is a legitimate cause or a scam. For personal pleas, get the veterinarianâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s contact information and send money directly to the veterinarian to help with bills for that particular cat. If that information is not available, you have the answer if the plea is legitimate or a scam.

Be very careful before you send any money: no matter how effective the plea is, check it out first before opening your wallet.

This is great... One suggestion is to setup also a paypal account instead only of a chip in - the paypal doesn't expire, and it has no goal limit to it... Also, a LOT of people have paypal, making donating very automated - a matter just of putting the amount, email and password.
Good job, and good luck!
