Gary and I have talked for a long time about getting a "couples" tattoo. We've tossed around all kinds of ideas... the "chain" around his arm and mine with the half a heart on each of us. A picture of one of our cats half on his arm, half on mine... one of our wedding pictures, where he's holding me - him on my arm, me on his, next to each other a complete picture... a "sun and moon" scene that creates a whole picture between the two of us...

Things have been SO TIGHT recently, that we're having a "Charlie Brown" kind of Christmas this year, and our 17th wedding anniversary is on Dec 26. But we've got a contract coming due at some point in the not too far distant future, and we want to spend some of the money on us. It's been a long time. (Well, after we pay rebuild the credits at the vets LOL).

One thing I DEFINITELY decided I want is a "bracelet" made of paw prints, with the faces of each of our kitties as charms. My wrists are so small, it'll probably have to be on my biceps, but I'm OK with that. But that's not THIS.

Anyway, Gary's latest idea is a love poem - half on him, half on me. I've been looking up Tennyson and Cummings and Shelley, and not finding anything short enough that really hits home.

Anyone have any thoughts or links? Even if not a poem, ideas of any kind for a "shared" tattoo?

(We already have each others' names tattooed on our ring fingers).

I've seen the lock and the key, usually placed on the pec area, or just two matching tattoos. My cousin and her bf have matching tats, hers is on her hip, his is on his forearm (its of a lizard and I do not know the meaning for them).

I'm not a fan of a lot of writing as a tattoo, but thats me and my likes.

What about a quote rather than a poem, a well known quote if its going to be in a place others can see, that way it can easier be said "oh my husband/wife has the other half".

Mark would never get a tattoo, and I would never get his name, so what I have is a butterfly with 3 flowers on my left breast
One flower for each child, and one for him....they are directly over my heart

Dana and I have been throwing that idea around as well, especially since my brother told us he's giving us each a free tattoo for Christmas.
We're not sure what to do either though, but LOVE the idea of the love poem! I can't wait to hear/see what you decide!

It sounds lovely, but the cat faces in the charms could be problematic, because of the size. I saw a drawing that was never done as a tattoo, because the people never came back to get, it that was very nice. Each of them had a cat with a lifted paw and a curled tail. When they stood together, the cat paws touched and the tails curled around each other. It was a beautiful drawing, I had hoped to see it done as a tattoo. You could fill in a back ground as you like.

Yeah, I was worried about the size on the "bracelet" idea, but I LOVE the idea with the lifted paw and tail!

I guess we'll just have to keep looking. And we're looking for quotes too.
