Question about Kirkland

Thread Starter
Is Kirkland an all life stages food? We have two new kittens coming to stay (and hopefully live forever YAY) with us tomorrow and I completely forgot to think about if I need to buy different food for them. They were born May 14th, so they are 7 months old. Are they old enough to eat Kirkland food? I hope so, but if not we'll deal with it. Thanks!!

Honestly I would ask the vet... It used to say all life stage ( ie within a year ago) it no longer does ... Many at six months move to adult food thus IMHO likely it is okay but ask the vet

They are on adult food already (Science Diet Optimum), and I asked their foster mom and she said it should be okay to start switching them to our food after a couple days. She said not to start right away b/c switching with the stress of the move could make them sick. Do you think that's true even if I start switching gradually?

Exactly how should I go about switching it? Sharky, please lend me your expertise!

I would keep them on what they're eating for a few days, then start to *slowly* switch them over to the Kirkland (or whatever you may choose). I'd change over a period of 2 weeks, as if you do it too quickly you can cause loose stools, and it's no fun to get that cleared up.

say you feed a cup at a time

1/8 cup new with 7/8 cup old for 2-4 days
then
1/4 ...3/4 for a few days
1/2 and 1/2
then reverse with higher amount of new

Actually Sharky- the bag I just bought says AAFCO certified for all life stages... so as far as I know it still is that way. Got it and donated it to a local shelter.
